Mercedes inspired by the Hyundai Sonata NF?
One look at the spyshot above and I thought it was a Hyundai Sonata NF coupe, but of course the article says the picture is that of the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe, or CE in oldspeak and CLK in current tradition. We are not sure what they will call the new name, apparently they are thinking of using a new naming convention for the E-Class coupe…
The name is not as important as the fact that those tail lamps remind me of the Sonata…

No lah. Its very different… Its more like a stretched 5-series ‘eagle wing’ tail lamps. The curve looks OK to me.
The Sonata NF rear lights design is more like the Accord 2003 model- curveless rectangular shape.
I thought the overall shape of the lamps look more like the Lexus IS.

Normal User, I think they would be more offended by your suggestion that they copied Bangle’s 5-series than mine that they were inspired by the Sonata…
The last thing M-B wants to do is look like B-M…
Gunner…. Lexus IS? hmmmm I don’t think so….
A matter of opinion of course. The shape looks the same to me, though proportionately, the Merc’s lamps occupy a much larger surface area than the IS’ lamps.
