Character of the Month of March: Kagami Taiga & Kuroko Tetsuya

Hello, peoples!  The time has come once again to reveal this month’s Character of the Month.  However, this month’s choice is a little different because for the first time in Hanime on Anime history, the title will be going to two characters.  It certainly is a first, but this was definitely a worthy exception.  Also considering that March was a short month, having reviewed only two shows, the situation also seems a bit unusual.  Still, it was worth the exception.  So I’ll stop beating around the bush and give you the dirt on the two Characters of the month of March, Kagami Taiga and Kuroko Tetsuya-both from Kuroko no Basuke.
Since I reviewed this show last week, I’ll be brief with the details on the show.  The new Seirin High School started recruiting new members for its young but talented basketball team.  Among these new recruits is Kagami Taiga.  A freshman student at Seirin, Kagami is a gifted basketball player who spent much of his middle school years in America-this is part of the reason why Kagami is great at basketball.  However, it’s not until later on that the team realizes that they have another great player, Kuroko Tetsuya.  Quiet, and often unseen, Kuroko comes off as a very weak player- if not at all a player.  However, unknown until later, Kuroko is a former “phantom” sixth player of the famed Generation of Miracles- a renowned middle school basketball team consisting of prodigies of the sport-and an excellent passer.   Eventually, Kagami and Kuroko form a bond that allows them to work together through each game, taking Seirin High to the championships, and also grabbing the attention of the former Generation of Miracles players.

There are certainly a lot of reasons why this dynamic duo got the title.  The two obviously show a effort that certainly gets the job done during a game.  And individually, the two certainly have their own desirable traits.  Kagami has the headstrong, get-going personality that is trademark for any anime protagonist.  Also considering the fact that much of what he learned about basketball he learned in the US. -‘Murica!-, it also seems to make him credible when it comes to basketball.  Then you have Kuroko.  A complete contrast to Kagami, he’s quiet, kind of keeps to himself, and goes around practically unnoticed.  However, despite how Kuroko comes off as being a non-athlete, his skills in basketball are phenomenal.  Remember, he was a part of the Generation of Miracles, which are some pretty big credentials.  Finally, when you get down to it, these two are just good together.  Combine the polar opposite personalities and expertise in basketball, you get a slam-dunk duo!  And I love it!  So keep striving to be the best in Japan, Kagami and Kuroko, because you two are the first ever Characters of the Month of March!

Now before I go, I do have a quick announcement to make.  I should have made a proper announcement on this, but this Wednesday will be the start of April, and the start of Hanime on Anime’s newest event.  Starting Wednesday, Hanime on Anime will be celebrating Autism Awareness Month by posting special posts on autism.  I will be doing a special post the day of with more details on what all will be happening for the event.  Anyways, that’s all that I have for now.  Stay tuned for Wednesday for my April event post, and of course, for a month of new reviews!

Character of the Month of April: Shoya Ishida and Shoko Nishimiya

Well, ladies and gentlemen, I think you saw this one coming.   I’m back this beautiful Sunday with this month’s Character- or Characters of the Month!   And yeah, if you read the title, I think it’s pretty obvious who was going to take it.   Cause let’s face it The End of Evangelion’s Shinji wasn’t going to take it anytime soon, especially not after the hospital scene.   But still, all kidding aside, I think this month’s picks really are worthy of the title, not just in their actions, but what they represent.   That being said, let’s talk about this month’s Characters of the Month of April, Shoya Ishida and Shoko Nishimiya from A Silent Voice .
