Toyota drives EV and hydrogen push in Thailand, its 'second home'

Japanese automaker chases Chinese rivals as it doubles down on decarbonization

Toyota leaders, including Chairman Akio Toyoda, met with CP Group and SCG top executives in Bangkok on December 19, 2023.

BANGKOK -- Toyota Motor is preparing to launch an extensive decarbonization campaign in Thailand, partnering with leading local businesses like the Charoen Pokphand Group with an eye on commercial demand for electric and fuel-cell vehicles.

"I believe that our actions now can change what the future looks like," Toyota Chairman Akio Toyoda said while attending an endurance race last month in Buriram, 400 kilometers from Bangkok. "I want people to experience the options for going carbon neutral using all five of their senses."
