John Stones: “It was a difficult game, it always is for both sides,”

John Stones is content to leave Old Trafford with a point after a 0-0 draw with United.

As City equalled a Club record six successive clean sheets, the in-form Stones again had a very good game at the back.

With this confidence Stones believes City can continue to gain ground for the title race.

“It was a difficult game, it always is for both sides, especially for us coming here,” said Stones.

“Obviously, there were no fans here, so it was a different atmosphere.

“We both didn’t create chances but both were very good defensively – it’s another clean sheet for us which is good.

“I’m disappointed we didn’t come away with more, but we fought so well and I’m proud of the boys pressing so well from the front. Coming away with a point, I think we have to be pleased.

“Whoever we play it’s a challenge for us. It was a bit of a stalemate in many ways, but we can take a lot from the drive we showed.”

“It’s massive. It’s a platform for us to go and win a game,” he said.

“We do our jobs as defenders to keep those clean sheets and it’s a platform for the boys up top to go and express themselves.

“Derbies are different so, as I say, to get a clean sheet away from home, I’m very pleased with that.

“Derbies are massive occasions for us as players and the fans. It’s disappointing we don’t have fans in the stadium.

“We always try and put on a good show for them at home but the sooner they are back in the stadium safely, the better for everyone I think.”

Would have liked to see a bit more bite, but winning at home and drawing away is a good recipe to compete especially in this unique season.
