Photograph was edited for publication purposes. The annual rodeo often drew between 18,000 to 25,000 spectators from all over California and neighboring Western states. Roy Baker, brother of shoe magnate C.H. Baker, built the stadium and sponsored the event from 1927-1930. The stadium later became the site of the Saugus Speedway, located at 22500 Soledad Canyon Road. Bronco busting, steer bulldogging, trick riding and fancy roping will bring back the old wild west for a day in the fourth annual rodeo at Baker Ranch near Saugus on Sunday, April 28, 1929. Practically every noted cowboy and cowgirl of the west has entered the prize contest, according to Roy Baker, sponsor.
