Biography

DHR Health is proud to welcome Juan J. Salazar, MD, to our primary care clinics. Dr. Salazar is a Valley native, born in San Juan, Texas. He attended Baylor University and received his medical diploma from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He began his first year of internal medicine studies at St. Joseph Hospital, later transferring to Texas Tech Health Science Center in Amarillo, where he completed two years of internal medicine training.

Dr. Salazar then returned to the Rio Grande Valley to serve the community and has been here ever since. He served as a clinical associate professor for the UTRGV Internal Medicine Residency Program for seven years. Dr. Salazar is currently affiliated with the DHR Health Internal Medicine Residency Program and with the DHR Health Institute for Research and Development as a principal investigator in the Valley for PREVENTABLE studies, sponsored by Duke University.
