Students of Earth Unboxing, a small group under the Department of Environmental Engineering, signed a business agreement with Uniqlo and promised to co-host marine clean-up activities. Students will conduct marine waste collection activities for six months from this month to April next year, including Eulwang-ri Beach and Mashian Beach in Incheon, Taean Kkotji Beach, Gunsan New City Breakwater and Saemangeum Seawall, Yeongdeok Whale Fire Beach, and Gangneung Anmok Beach.

'Earth Unboxing' has carried out eco-friendly activities that promote awareness of the correct use of resources and virtuous cycle. ‘Earth Unboxing’ Participated in the 2021 PLEX ZERO conducted by Incheon City to make resource circulation goods with discarded plastic bottle caps and installed plastic bottle cap collector in 10 places in the school to properly discharge plastic bottle caps. Earth Unboxing collected the bottle caps, washed them, and delivered them to Low Retreat Collective Co., Ltd. for upcycling. In addition, various activities were conducted, including making recycled soap using waste that causes environmental pollution if thrown incorrectly, a tour of the Seoul Metropolitan Landfill Management Corporation to know the correct process of waste disposal, and a map of cafes near schools that give discounts if you take tumblers.

Lim So-yeon, an environmental engineering student representing Earth Unboxing, said, "It is an honor to conduct such meaningful activities while attending school," adding, "I hope many people will pay attention to marine protection through six months of marine cleanup activities."

"The students' experience of putting their heads together and taking the lead in the environment will be a great help to the changing lives and world of future generations," said Jeon Ki-joon, a professor of environmental engineering.

Meanwhile, UNIQLO's "JOIN: The Power of Clothes" campaign is a global campaign to raise customers' interest in global problems such as marine pollution and create a better environment and aims to induce consumers' participation in the sustainability activities conducted by UNIQLO through this campaign.
