Seth Meyers has known Joanna Newsom for awhile, thanks to her marriage to his friend—and former SNL colleague—Andy Samberg. So when Newsom dropped by Late Night on Wednesday, he invited Newsom to share the story of how she first met Samberg. And it's pretty cute.

"Fred Armisen brought him to one of my shows, and I had just been with my band backstage, like an hour before, watching 'Just 2 Guyz,' " Newsom said. "He has a tiny part. He plays Steve the c—. So when I met him, he was kinda shy, and I said, 'Oh my god you're Steve the c—!' He always says he saw heart bubbles."

"Everything I know about him, that is the dream way for a girl to greet him," Meyers agreed.

One thing Newsom and Samberg disagree on, however, is what to make of Meyers' dog. Samberg apparently refers to Meyers' beloved dog as a rat, even though Newsom loves her as much as Meyers. Meyers called Samberg a "monster" for this.

"He wanted me to come on and hold a little rat and pet it the whole time, saying 'I brought your dog,' " Newsom said.

"You are such a better person than he is, I don't know how you do it," Meyers replied.
