This project aims to bring new agri-ecological, regionally-adapted, climate-ready, weed-tolerant, nutrient-scavaging, tasty and nutritious oats, wheat, corn and potatoes to Canadian farmers. In collaboration with the University of Manitoba, we are making new crosses based on feedback from industry and growers. Then farmers plant the seeds in the middle of their fields and select the best-performing plants each year. After several years of on-farm selection, the adapted seeds are tested on research farms for agronomic performance, milling and baking quality, nutrients and taste.
