About Canada Life Centre

Bell MTS Place

Smack dab in the center of Manitoba in the gorgeous city of Winnipeg, the Great White North boasts one of the newest indoor sports and event arenas anywhere. Known as the Bell MTS Place, this venue can hold up to 17,000 people right in Winnipeg’s downtown neighborhood.

History of the Bell MTS Place

Originally known as the True North Centre during its initial planning and construction phases, the Bell MTS Place was built to replace the older Winnipeg Arena, which had been struggling to stay modernized, as it had been opened in 1955. The new venue was opened in 2004 on the former site of famous Canadian department store Eaton’s, which had shuttered after going bankrupt in 2001, though there are a number of Eaton’s memorabilia on display within the arena as a nod to the historic retail chain.

What’s So Great About Bell MTS Place Events?

You can’t get anything better than the Bell MTS Place when it comes to sports or concert venues in Manitoba. Winnipeg is the place to be, and there’s just not any arena setting that’s even comparable. So unless you feel like spending hours cross-country to either Ontario or Alberta, the Bell MTS Place is the only game in town!
