Using Directional-Finding and TDoA

This topic discusses the procedure for performing a TDoA directional-finding measurement.

This section contains the following sections:

TDoA Procedure

A minimum of three receivers are required for a TDoA directional-finding measurement. Learn more, see FieldFox Analyzer Equipment.

Figure 1. TDoA New Measurement Screen

  1. To begin directional-finding measurement, click Select button.

The Map screen is displayed see Figure 2.

The Map screen displays the current latitude and longitude of the center of the screen displayed.

FieldFox4 and FieldFox5 are inactive (grayed out), but can be seen on the Map screen in Figure 2.

Figure 2. TDoA Map Screen

  1. Click the Acquisition Control > Start button to acquire the target based on the three selected receivers.

Figure 3. Measurement Setup and Measurement Status display the busy acquiring data icons.

When the measurement is completed, the targeted area is displayed in a square heat signature zone. The targeted red area is labeled as "Emitter" on the map as shown in Figure 4.

If there are other receivers near the main three receivers that are detected, but not active, they are grayed out (e.g., Receiver 4 and Receiver 5 in the Map image below.)
