HAPPY 2021!!! 💛

Hope you all had a nice start to the year and look forward to better days than what was of 2020….

New year = new review! You might be tired of me talking about my skin condition HAHA (I KNOW I AM…) but it got super bad last month and I had to stop using all forms of products on my face. It got bad to the point where I had to only use water to wash my face and prescription cream. After visiting my doctor to see what I could do she referred me to an allergist specialist, prescribed me with allergy medicine and more cream to help calm and heal my skin. Good thing my skin has improved immensely but the appointment with the specialist isn’t until May 😭 which is a long way to go but hopefully the consultation can help me determine what’s happening haha.

Back to not using my regular products, I am slowly incorporating some products back into my routine (but not as much as before) again which is why it took a long time for me to produce this review 😣.

Hope you guys understand and that as time progresses (and finding out what is ACTUALLY happening to my skin at the specialist) I can go back to testing new skincare products for you guys!! 💛

Now to the exciting review I have for you today! 🌾

It’s the new Cream and Serum from I’m From’s Rice Line!! I was super excited when I heard that they were coming out with new products cause most of the other lines have their own little families but the Rice Line only had the Toner and Scrub Mask, so these products are a nice edition! 🎉

As I received these products in the mail, my skin condition got worse and I was super sad that I couldn’t try these products out 😣. Hearing good things about these two I was itching to test these ASAP but I had to be patient and let my skin heal first!

After a long month and a half recovering, I slowly incorporated these products into my skincare routine and I think I’ve tried it for a decent amount of time to give you a review of these products!

(A note to mention! I did receive their toner as well but I’ll do a separate review for that one since I’m focusing on these two first!)

About the Line

This is one of the many popular lines from I’m From and with Rice as the common ingredient, we get to see the many benefits rice has for the skin! You can see that the people from I’m From have really done their research and gathered the best bits of the rice to make skincare products that help brighten the skin’s complexion!

The line houses four products:

• Rice Mask
• Rice Toner
• Rice Serum
• Rice Cream

With the fundamentals of skincare covered, you basically have your routine right there!

The rice they use is from Yeoju, South Korea. The temperature and environment is the perfect place for rice to mature and be made into these products and give your skin a nice brightening complexion. Gathering the best bits from the rice grain, they are then incorporated into the products we see today~

With the best environment brings the best product and this is true for Yeoju Rice, where these grains contain more nutrients than the normal grain of rice and is ideal for making products with. It takes roughly 6 months for the plant to mature at the appropriate stage before being harvested by hand and where they are made into their respective products!! (which I will briefly explain later under each product ~ 😊)

This line is designed to ultimately help improve your skin’s complexion by brightening and giving your skin a glow afterwards. Rice was and is still known to be used in eastern beauty practices, for brightening the skin and even using leftover rice water to rinse their face with. This is in hopes that it will help improve the skin’s complexion. I found it interesting that the concept is still incorporated in today’s products from I’m From and other brands as well (with actual research to back up these claims!).

About the Product

I’m From Rice Serum

The I’m From Rice Serum packs a punch in this bottle, moisturises and helps give a nice and healthy glow to the skin after use. The serum contains 73% fermented rice embryo extract that helps even out skin tone, moisturise it and brightens the overall complexion of the skin!

More about how it is extracted. This is an interesting one as this formulation is made from the embryo bud of the rice – which is one tenth of the overall rice grain but contributes to 65.9% of its total nutrition. Imagine that form a tiny grain of rice?!? Anyways, it then goes through a fermentation process at 90℃ degrees for 30 minutes to increase its active ingredients and be fully absorbed into the skin!

The brightening ingredient comes from the natural grain itself. Called gamma-orizanol, it contributes to soothing the skin and prevents the synthesis of melanin to occur (which might be preventing things such as sunspots from appearing). 

The rice bud itself contains 43x times more gamma-oryzanol than the overall rice grain itself which contributes to rejuvenating and aid in skin tone recovery, making it look bright and clear. Along with the extract, comes the hyaluronic acid which moisturises the skin from the inside.

I’m From Rice Cream

Next is the Moisturising Cream! Inspired by how rice grains are protected by rice bran from the ever changing temperatures of Yeoju, rice bran essence combined with the ceramide found in the rice bran is incorporated into this cream to help protect the skin’s barrier. This is all while maintaining the skin’s ability to lock in the moisture against the constant temperature changes we face everyday.

Containing 41% rice bran essence, this thick cream contains natural fatty acids and is excellent for its ability to improve the skin’s barrier and moisturising effects. This essence is made through gently boiling the rice bran and then uses distillation to filter what is needed and discard what isn’t. It also has the ability to help with sebum control as it contains phytic acid, found in rice bran as well to absorb excess sebum and helps keep complexion smooth.

How its used

I’m From Rice Serum

Coming in a pump bottle, I usually use one pump’s worth of serum and that is enough to cover my whole face and neck area pretty well. Let that absorb into the skin by gently patting the face before moving onto the cream.

I’m From Rice Cream

Once your face has absorbed the serum, take an appropriate amount and dot parts of your face with the cream before spreading it gently across the skin. Let that absorb into the skin and your face will be left feeling fresh and glowing!

First Impressions

I really enjoyed using both products! I liked how supple and soft my skin looked and especially how moisturised it felt afterwards but without the sticky feeling.

It’s small but really does pack a punch! I’m From’s Rice Serum has a lightweight texture which feels like you’ve applied nothing on and leaves a nice layer of moisture and sheen on the skin. That’s what my ideal serum sounds like~ I also like how it is a good base for makeup too as it leaves a subtle after-glow. This is a product I’d want to use again!

The cream is another product I really enjoyed. It does look thick but it gently melts onto your skin and absorbs really well. I really like the texture and especially how it feels on my face. It’s left moisturised without it feeling like it’s weighing me down. As it is Summer here I find it suitable to use during the warmer months and I bet even more useful for the colder months with much drier conditions.

Like most people, I’m a sucker for pretty and simple packaging and this one is no different. It comes in a light cream coloured box and brown lettering is used throughout the whole box. I really like the embossed detailing on the front which I believe are little rice grains. Like other I’m From packaging it also mentions the geographic location of where the main ingredient is sourced from in Korea which is a nice and unique touch.

Thoughts

Loving the Mugwort Line from I’m From, I have a feeling I’d like the Rice Line as well with the way many skincare bloggers also liking this new release! I think it might be my new favourite products from the brand 🙈 (sorry Mugwort Toner! I still ❤️ you too), as I really enjoyed how it felt on my skin and the way it just settles nicely without it being too oily on my face. I can see myself using this in the colder and more drier months too!

These would be products I would highly recommend for people who would like to brighten their complexion and to also moisturise their face as well. Also, for my people who don’t like or use fragrances in their skincare, you’d like this as well as there is little to no scent (but I do advice you to see the ingredients list to make sure if it does contain actual fragrances or not!)
