Overview In earlier days, the agriculture sector of Greece was potentially damaged by the low soil quality and poor landholding system. The landholding system increases migration from cities and small towns. Nearly one-third of the land areas are cultivable, and the remaining land is covered with scrubs, pasture, and forest. The majority of the crops grown in these areas are barley, wheat, maize, sugar beets, tomatoes, peaches, tobacco, and cotton. Some other crops grown in large quantities are grapes, olives, potatoes, oranges, and melons. All the crops are exported to di몭erent countries. Since the 20th century, Greece has consistently exported the best hothouse-grown vegetables in European countries during the winter season. Greek wine, such as resin-몭avored retsina widely produced for domestic consumption. However, after the 1990s, the country produced the most superior wine qualities to supply in the world market. In addition, goats, sheep, cattle, pigs, and chickens have been raised for export in di몭erent countries and local consumption. Greece’s agriculture plays a signi몭cant role in building the economic strategy of Greek agriculture. Because of its signi몭cance and crucial role in
agricultural economics, Greek agriculture becomes the prime part of the economic assignments. However, Greek agriculture economics is an elaborated topic covering various agriculture parts. This is why many students ask for economics assignment help from experts. Although Greece’s agriculture has bene몭tted substantially from the European subsidies, there are still many signs of growth in rural prosperity. In simple terms, the agriculture sector is slightly low. It covers the approximately one-몭fth area, and most areas are prone to 몭re. But the forest product has little contribution to the economy. The extensive islands and coastline always supported 몭shing activities. However, the failure of over몭shing fails to conserve the 몭shing stocks.
Obstacles of Greek First time Farmers: Like many other business entrepreneurs, Greek farmers face many obstacles in their countries. Moreover, the tax laws have constantly been changing in Greece, and the lack of availability of bank loans further creates obstacles. On the other hand April 25, the Ministry of Rural Development and Food reported that more than 12,000 EU subsidies are available for the farmers, and nearly 15000 people applied for them. There was an increase in applications in 2014. These subsidies are extremely helpful for farmers and development. Farming and agriculture are the future of Greece. Some regions are solely based on agriculture. Moreover, the government raised the income tax from 13-to 22%. They want to increase their funds so that we can invest further rather than from EU subsidies or agricultural banks. Most of the young farmers don’t have access to the Greek and EU subsidies because of the anachronistic law of Greece. Because of this law, the farmers can actively receive funding, whereas the young farmers cannot access them directly.
Role of Resources and Power in the Agriculture Economy Greece has a limited amount of natural resources. Nonferrous metals, particularly bauxite, are the only signi몭cant mineral reserves. Small amounts of silver metal & limestone are also exploited in the nation. Apart from lignite, hydrocarbons are in poor supply: no bituminous coal resources exist, and oil supply, mainly on the Prions 몭eld near the shore of Thasos, is restricted. Following the discovery of Thasos, a disagreement arose in the 1970s between European powers over the demarcation of the two nations’ continental shelves, which has yet to be resolved. Around nine-tenths of Greece’s power transmission demands were met by fossil fuels, approximately one-tenth by hydroelectricity, and a far lesser slice by nuclear energy at the turn of the twenty-몭rst century. The nation started developing renewable power in the late 1990s.
Finance Plays a Signi몭cant Role in Empowering Greek Agriculture The Bank of Greece is the country’s central bank that issued the old currency, Greece’s pound sterling, until 2001 when the euro became the country’s sole currency. Since 1981, Greece has been a member of the European Union. The government owns a large number of banks operating in the country. The government also has a strong grip on the insurance industry. Greece’s agricultural economy has skyrocketed with rising investments and phenomenal business strategies. In the early 21st century, one-몭fth of agriculture laborers were enrolled in the agricultural sector. Because they are primarily involved in transporting commodities between developing nations, Greek ships, mostly bulk carriers, are especially sensitive to downturns in worldwide economic activity. According to the unions’ leaders, their adaptation methods include exports, experienced employees, and marketing expenditures rather than quitting businesses and selling technology and real estate holdings. These 몭ndings might be useful for the company boards of agricultural cooperatives and for food sector enterprises functioning in di몭cult economic conditions, such as the current Greek 몭nancial downturn. Along with this, the establishment of the manufacturing sector and the development of the agriculture sector further enhance the production of vegetables and processed foods. This further led to the contribution to building the strong economical strategies of the agriculture sector in Greece. Read More : What Uk Has On O몭er For Students, And Recent Graduates
