Davichi's Kang Min-kyung donates ￦150 million to charity

Kang Min-kyung of Korean pop-ballad duo Davichi donated 150 million won ($116,000) from her YouTube channel profits to charity, Kang announced Sunday.

A video titled “Because It’s the End of the Year” was uploaded to Kang’s personal YouTube channel on Sunday. In the video, Kang looked back on the past year and said that she “lived this year without any regrets.”

“With the start of Covid-19 and the number of performances dwindling, YouTube became my primary job,” Kang said in the video. “I am actually looking forward to finding out how much I earned from YouTube this year.”

Kang then revealed her earnings from YouTube, which was a total of 147 million won.

“This is all due to my viewers,” Kang said. “I want to spend it on something meaningful, so I am going to donate this to the Yonsei Severance Hospital’s children’s ward.”

Kang immediately rounded up to donate 150 million won through a bank app transfer during the video. Many fans commended her on her good deed in the comments section of the video.

Kang and Lee Hae-ri debuted as the duo Davichi in 2008 and gained popularity with songs like "8282" (2009), "Let the time stop" (2010) and "Unspoken Words" (2019).
