Mt. Ashland Ski Area is finally open for the season of snowboarding and skiing after experiencing a slight weather delay.

Like every year, on opening day people dressed up in their onesies, and families of all ages hit the slopes.

“It's the best, it’s so fun skiing with the kids because I was hoping they become skiers, and then three years ago they finally did. Opening day is like our annual tradition and I cannot wait for every opening day,” said Rafe Tejada-Ingram, an avid skier.

Tejada-Ingram said he has been skiing for 31 years now and is excited to finally be able to have his children join him on the mountain.

“Well it’s really fun and awesome, I had to dress really warm but it was worth it because it’s super fun,” said Opal Tejada-Ingram, Rafe Tejada-Ingram's 9-year-old daughter.

Mt. Ashland also added a new attraction for people who want to learn how to ski or snowboard.

The new addition is called the magic carpet and can be located at the learning center.

There are also new rentals and a new general manager that will be leading the staff on the mountain soon.

“We got a new manager that will be joining us on the 21st of December, his name is Andrew Gast, we’re really excited to get him on the mountain to start this next chapter," said Curt Burrill, the President of the Board of Directors for the nonprofit. "We got new snowboarding equipment in our rental fleet this year, and we got new kid skies."
