When will the Vietnamese flag be displayed in 2024?

Pursuant to Article 13 of the 2013 Constitution, the national flag of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam is rectangular in shape, with its width equal to two-thirds of its length; in the middle of a red background is a five-pointed gold star.

The national flag of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam is also known as "Red Flag with Yellow Star" or "Fatherland Flag", "Vietnam Flag", originally the national flag of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, created was born and first appeared in 1940, then officially became the national flag of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in September 1945.

Pursuant to Section II of Regulation 974-TTg, on the regulations for displaying the Vietnamese flag (National flag of Vietnam), the flag is to be displayed as follows:

Displaying the Vietnamese flag separately:

- The flag is displayed in meeting rooms of government authorities and organizations during important meetings.

- The flag is only displayed outside buildings on the following holidays and occasions:

+ New Year.

+ Lunar New Year

+ Anniversary of general elections: January 6.

+ International Labor Day: May 1.

+ President Ho Chi Minh's birthday: May 19.

+ Anniversary of the August Revolution: August 19.

+ National Day: September 2.

In other cases where the flag needs to be displayed, there will be announcements from the Government, administrative committees, provinces, or cities.

- The flag is displayed or carried in places where mass demonstrations, rallies, or activities involving a large crowd are organized, such as launching land reform campaigns, promoting production competitions, building dikes, constructing roads, or drought prevention.

(2) Displaying the Vietnamese flag together with flags of other countries:

The Vietnamese flag is displayed together with flags of other countries in the following cases:

- When commemorating the National Day of another country or a foreign country, the Vietnamese flag and the flag of that country are displayed in ceremonial rooms.

- When receiving delegations from foreign governments, the Vietnamese flag and the flag of that country are displayed at the welcoming location (train stations, ports, etc.) and where the delegation stays.

When receiving delegations from the people's organizations of friendly or foreign countries, the national flag is not displayed.

What are the regulations on displaying Vietnamese flag?

According to Section III of Part II of Regulation 974-TTg issued in 1956 regarding the use of the national flag of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Prime Minister issued the following regulations on how to display the national flag:

Display of national flag
1) When hanging the national flag, make sure not to invert the star.
2) When hanging our national flag with the flag of another country, if the person standing in front looks at them, our flag should be on the right hand side and the foreign flag on the left hand side.
3) When it is necessary to hang our national flag along with the flags of multiple other countries, there will be separate instructions from the Government specifying the order of arrangement of the flags.
4) When hanging our flag along with other flags, the flags must be made according to the correct design, be of equal size, and hung evenly without any flags being larger or smaller than others.
5) Hanging flags and pictures: When hanging a picture of the President along with the national flag, the picture should be lower than the flag, or it should be placed on the flag below the star. In offices, only the picture of the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam should be regularly hung.

According to sub-section 1 of Section I of Instruction 3420/HD-BVHTTDL issued in 2012 regarding the use of the national flag, national emblem, national anthem, and portrait of President Ho Chi Minh, issued by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the following regulations are stated:

NATIONAL FLAG
1. Description of the national flag: Article 141 of Chapter XI of the 1992 Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; Circular No. 68/VHTT-TT dated August 24, 1993 of the Ministry of Culture, Information (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism). "The national flag of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam is rectangular in shape, with a width equal to two-thirds of its length, a red background, and a yellow five-pointed star in the middle."
- "The center point of the yellow star is placed at the exact center (intersection point of the two diagonals) of the national flag.
- The distance from the center point of the star to the tip of each star point is equal to one-fifth of the length of the national flag.
- Each star point is perpendicular to the longer side of the national flag and points directly upwards towards the top of the flagpole.
- The shape of the star is created by connecting the tips of the star points with straight lines, without any protrusion in the middle, and the star points are not rounded.
- Both sides of the national flag have identical, overlapping yellow stars.
- The background of the national flag is bright red, and the star is bright yellow..."

Therefore, when hanging the national flag of the country, people should pay attention to the fact that the national flag is rectangular in shape, with a width equal to two-thirds of its length, a red background, and a yellow five-pointed star in the middle.

- The center point of the yellow star should be placed at the exact center (intersection point of the two diagonals) of the national flag.

- The distance from the center point of the star to the tip of each star point should be equal to one-fifth of the length of the national flag.

- Each star point should be perpendicular to the longer side of the national flag and point directly upwards towards the top of the flagpole.

How to display the Vietnamese Flag on cars?

According to Section VI of Regulation 974-TTg issued in 1956 regarding the use of the national flag of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the following regulations are stated for how to display the national flag on cars:

- The national flag is to be displayed on cars of Vietnamese ambassadors and consuls abroad.

- When receiving and escorting foreign government officials, both our national flag and the foreign national flag should be displayed on the car used for those officials. When looking at them from the front, our national flag should be on the right side and the foreign national flag on the left side.

- Apart from the above-mentioned cases, national flags are not to be displayed on government and private cars.

National flags are not to be displayed on cars when receiving and escorting foreign delegations.

For specific cases not mentioned in this decree, relevant authorities should report to the Prime Minister for consideration.
