Seeleben 46
Seeleben, “lake life”—this is what you’ll find in this wonderful cottage on the Upper Austrian Irrsee. The terrace and comfortable living room with their open view of the calm waters offer a place to sit and get lost in the changing moods of nature throughout the day. At times, the midday sun sparkles on the surface of the water, at others the horizon becomes a rosy sea of colors; some mornings, the wind stirs up little waves over the surface of the lake and on others a light mist rises gently. This is a great place to stay—perfect in summer and winter. Hiking, biking, swimming or just relaxing, you can do it all here. Brigitte Reisch-Raich has lovingly furnished this gem with a modern touch. The little house has everything you need to switch off completely, even a small outdoor sauna and a private swimming area! The Irrsee is the “little brother” of the Fuschl-, Atter- and Mondsee lakes, situated in the Salzkammergut. Because it is small, located in a moorland, and relatively sheltered from the wind it warms up quickly in summer and freezes over quickly in winter. Keep up the good work, little brother! In the summer we’ll come with our bikinis and swimming trunks, in the winter we’ll visit with ice skates, ok? WHAT WE LIKE MOST:
- The direct lake view— being able to look straight out onto the stunning lake!
- The chic rotating fireplace stove—so you can enjoy the terrace even in colder weather.
- The house is furnished with high quality materials and furniture, for example, there is a chic Freistil leather sofa and various pieces from HAY.
- The terrace is made of beautiful larch planks, which invites you to spend most of the day here in winter as well as in summer.
- The cottage is surrounded by nature, more meadows than houses.
- The Irrsee can be reached on foot via a short path.
- There is a private bathing spot.
Good to know:
- The house has two bedrooms and sleeps four.
- There’s an outdoor sauna next to the house.
- The private bathing place is a short walk down the field; it is sheltered by bushes and is exclusively for guests of the house. There are four deckchairs for sunbathing and drying off.
- In summer the local bakery offers a daily bread delivery service, in winter it’s twice a week.
- The Irrsee is one of the warmest lakes in the Salzkammergut, it gets up to 27 degrees Celsius in summer.
- Activities: In summer—boating, biking and hiking; in winter—ice skating and curling.
- You can hike on the wooded Kolomansberg or along the various other beautiful hiking trails of varying degrees of difficulty between Mondsee and Irrsee.
- The many village inns in the area, e.g. in Zell am Moos or in Mondsee, offer historical charm and traditional Austrian cuisine.
- If you’re in search of something more lively, Salzburg is 35 kilometers away, Bad Ischl 46 kilometers, and Bad Reichenhall 50 kilometers.
