Family Fare Supermarkets

Good selection of items but it's the only grocery store in Marshall, MI. The manager or customer service employees do not know what a Cashier's Check is. I was attempting to get one to help my wife's grandma pay her rent because the banks had just closed at 5pm, but unlike any other normal grocery store, I couldn't get one.

If you're the ONLY grocery store in town, you should have every available option that normal grocery stores have.

It's not fancy but it got the job done. This supermarket has a decent sized parking lot and the cart corrals were empty. Inside, the lights could maybe be a bit brighter, but the aisles were clear and the shelves were stocked.

I picked up a few things for this week in the hotel and the prices were a little higher than I expected. Perhaps because they do not have a tremendous amount of competition in the immediate area?

Self-checkout worked well and I managed to find a variation of "Jenny's Number" to enter into the system that worked to make me a "member" and save a few pennies on my purchase.

Don't use Western Union at Family Fare, anywhere. If you try to send money to a family member in need and you think they can pick it up at Family Fare, you are wrong. They don't keep any money on hand to handle Western Union transactions. That goes for Western Union money orders also. They will happily take your cash (they demanded cash instead of debit so they can't refund to a debit card) but they will not cash the very same money orders less than 24 hours later because they sent all your money to their bank and won't give it back.

Clean well stocked store. Wide variety of items. Your usually deli items with a counter person most hours. The salad and soup bar is stocked with a variety of items. With the soups flavors changed daily. You can usually pick the day of the week when they have your favorite. I've yet to find any spoiled fruits or vegetables in the produce area.
Prices are normal, with a program going on now with the gas station in the front.

Being a former grocery store employee back in the day, I can tell you that this place lacks everything employees should have, as well as common sense things a store should do. The bottle return room is pure filth. Half the time, it smells like sour vomit. Some of the employees are, what we should say, a few fries short of a happy meal. Employees smoke right near the building, the parking lot is not only rough, the spaces are so close together that you will always get a door ding. I hardly come here now, Walmart or Meijer in Charlotte is amych better decision.

Store is old. It is painted to look ok, but old. Prices are SKY HIGH! For the prices here, you could get almost double at Walmart or Aldi. Great place to got if you' rather spend 300 dollars instead of 120 bucks for groceries. Bottle room smells like puke.
