Excellent Customer Service, thank you Daryl, yes the place is a little outdated, but no issues. Absolutely love the location, and man the view of the mtns is to die for!!, good food you have to travel a bit for because you have a picky partner in your company errr. But I think they have some descent food with walking distance after we already drove 2ish hrs here., Next stop, can't wait Santa's Village yahoo!!, final stop home to my loved very much Rocky, and Daniel Tiger, they and i could not handle this road trip young cats.

Charming Cabin! Centrally located
We stayed in the Pinewood, a cabin with two bedrooms, and knotty pine walls throughout. One room had a queen bed, the other had a double bed and a twin bed, perfect for our young adult children. The mattresses were very comfortable, more than I expected them to be. The linens and towels were clean and like new. The bathroom was clean. The proprietor had all the windows open when we arrived, so the place was fresh and breezy, which I loved.
Kevin, the proprietor, is friendly and helpful, available, but only when we want him to be. He gave us space and privacy, which we appreciated.
From here, we went to Mount Washington, Littleton, and Franconia State Park, and all of them were pretty close and a beautiful drive.
There was a small living room, tv, and large table we could all sit at. There was a small full kitchen with a fridge, stove/oven and microwave, as well as pots and pans and dishes, etc. (no dishwasher) Pretty well stocked. The kitchen was not as clean as I would have liked. Did I tell kevin? No, because we didn't use much except put some water and soda in the fridge, and pop microwave popcorn. We were out all day. Had I told him, I am quite certain he would have addressed it promptly. I wish the fridge had been wiped out better, and the microwave and fridge handles had been wiped down. I would definitely go there again, but if I were going to use the kitchen more, I would bring some kitchen spray or something just to give it a wipe down. He provided paper towels and dish detergent for our use, as well as sponge and scrubber, so I could have used what he had to wipe it down also.
If you are looking for a chain hotel experience in a wood cabin, this is not it.
This place had a definite old charm, with 1950's fixtures. No USB ports, but several outlets in every room. HOWEVER, I had to plug in a few things, and sometimes it was difficult to get to the bedroom outlets. I suggest you bring an extension cord, or extra long phone chargers if you want to have access to them while they are charging. Great place, I will definitely be back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Thank you for you kind and comprehensive review of our Pinewood Cottage. We will make sure that the kitchen is cleaned more thoroughly for our future guests...thanks for that feedback.

Located in scenic Franconia, the Gale River Motel is a modest but pretty accommodating motel with about fifteen or so rooms. There's also a pool, a hot tub as well as a swing set and a community grill. Oh and don't forget the amazing views that you get from there.
Each room has a ceiling fan, an A/C unit as well as a fridge and TV. Not bad at all.
I've had a couple of stays there as my wife's family has an annual trip there every summer and so far each stay I've had has been good. The owner is a bit grumpy and a stickler for the rules but for the most part it's fine.
The only couple of negative points I noticed were that the driveway/parking area could use some resurfacing and that the rooms could also use a few more towels. There'also nowhere to let them towels dry which is kind of annoying. But all in all, this place is pretty good!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - catherine g.Hinesburg, VT0111Aug 18, 2020
Fantastic vintage motel, especially for mid-century modern fans. Highly recommend. The pool and hot tub were perfect.

First view and I wasn't sure I wanted to stay. It's a little dated and not a sterile cookie cutter motel.
Once inside the office it smelled like home. Kevin the owner had just made delicious chocolate chip cookies for those of us staying there.
What a wonderful place to stay.
The rooms were clean and comfortable.
Beautiful views. Swimming pool, lots of land, very quiet.
The owner recycles and is concerned with our environment.
I highly recommend staying here.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Heather V.Riverside, CA0116Jan 21, 2017
Great place to base yourself for any length stay in Franconia. Room was warm and comfortable - very clean. The "green" ethos feels good and the inn keeper's home-made chocolate chip cookies and ready welcome makes it feel like home-away-from-home. Oh and not to forget, just a beautiful view of Franconia Notch, ever changing! Thanks for all Kevin, including the band-aide to salve an unexpected accident. A wonderful visit to the North Country!

Just another older strip motel typical of the region. The remodeled room had an airy feel with plenty of space - a step above "basic" but for a basic price. The room was clean but not well maintained - the air conditioning was useless, one tap on the sink wouldn't open even after they "fixed" it, and plugs were so worn they wouldn't hold. The grounds are extensive, mainly lawn bordered by trees, and inviting. The host is friendly and helpful. Ask for 10% off coupons for local restaurants.

Pleasant, clean, cozy motel near Franconia Notch State Park, just 12 minutes away from the Basin. Owner Kevin is warm, friendly and accomodating. My family has enjoyed stays here twice - modest, reasonably priced, convenient location and clean rooms. Definitely recommend if you're hiking the White Mountains. Free WiFi ftw - will be back next time we're in the area!

Stayed here for one night last weekend. Owner Kevin is a peach. Reasonable price for a quiet, quaint vintage hotel. Nice pet friendly motel.
Plusses: outdoor hottub and pool. indoor hottub. Free wifi. Up the street from tiny Franconia with Mojo (a hip coffee and sandwich joint) and an old iron furnace. Really liked the pet walk through the meadow out back. Greeted with homemade chocolate chip cookies. Bagels and mini muffins available in the morning in the office, along with hot tea. The gift basket with emergen-C and razors was a nice touch.
Each room has a couple of adirondack chairs out front, for gazing out at the field and mountains (you can see the slopes of Cannon in the distance).
We'll be back in ski season.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
