I was visiting from out of town and came across this place as a dinner option. I really wanted to try the pineapple fried rice but was not willing to pay $30+ for it, double the price of similar dishes, so I settled on the Thai basil with veggies and tofu. It was surprisingly tasty but not as spicy as I would have liked (despite ordering Thai spice level). I got my food to-go but the inside had a nice ambience and the server was pleasant.

The design and set up of the building, the lighting, decorations are beautiful. The natural lighting and the artificial flowers really do elevate the experience of downtown eating.
While the Pad Thai was decent, the portions of meat, predominantly chicken (due to the absence of beef on the menu due to religious and legitimate reasons) is notably sparse. The inclusion of bean sprouts in it was absent, which was very disappointing since that's one of my favorite elements of traditional Pad Thai.
Regrettably, the Thai Tom Yom Soup was watery and had no discernible flavor at all. The noodles had an undesirable hardness to them, almost like instant noodles from a packet. The shrimp and vegetables lacked flavor, and the soup's broth (if it can even be labelled as a broth) had no body nor texture.
Maybe the Thai Tom Yom Soup is not their specialty, but this item ruined/overshadowed our experience at Kaitod Thai Kitchen.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Peggy W.San Antonio, TX366447Jun 27, 2023
This is an unexpectedly great restaurant in downtown Laredo. Our server Kay was absolutely fantastic. He helped just as much as we needed and was very helpful in describing the food and drinks and bringing everything out quickly.
The food was just spectacular. We had dumplings, eggplant, yellow curry and Thai Tom soup. It was all delicious and beautifully presented.
We also had drinks from the bar which were delicious and only $6!
Go out if your way to find this place. It is an oasis in downtown Laredo.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

In my opinion, Kaitod Thai Kitchen has to be one of the coolest brunch spots in downtown historical Laredo. This hidden gem offers an upscale dining experience with an oriental twist. Here you can find anything from the sparkling bottomless mimosas to the soft and tasty Kaitod Eggs Benedict.
Overall, the menu seems to offer a variety of options for all kinds of tastebuds, all in the heart of Laredo. Thank you for this memorable experience.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Not being from Loredo, I was happy to try something I haven't seen since visiting this area. It's weird to say but the food comes out looking beautiful! I hope to return next time I visit!

We had made a reservation, showed on time and our table wasn't ready but didn't take long. Service was good in the beginning but quickly turned very slow. We had to ask for drink refills repeatedly. The place wasn't half full and there was enough staff working.
Everything in the menu was delicious, we shared appetizers as well as main dishes. Portions are adequate.
The music was loud and seem to come out of a single speaker rather than around the entire restaurant, which would have given better ambiance as the building echoes quite a bit.
Overall a definite good first experience but there's room for improvement.
Hopefully they will stick around as it adds good flavor and variety to the Laredo cuisine options.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Geoff G.Houston, TX73928Feb 24, 2023
This former food truck business graduated to a former hotel restaurant space and converted what had been a worn out looking space into a beautiful and fresh dining room.
We had delicious (although oily) spring rolls. The red curry was excellent with a nice peppery bite to it. I requested the eggplant dish with tofu instead of chicken and was not disappointed. The veggies were crispy fresh, glazed with a delightful sauce.
We finished with a wonderful mango sticky rice beautifully presented with edible flower petals and black sesame seeds.
Kudus to these guys!
Can't wait to go back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - David T.Lagos, Nuevo Laredo, Mexico01Nov 20, 2023
The food was good, they need to work on their chicken though, it was tough to chew, the ambience was really good, drinks were delicious, deserts.. well not so much but I hope they read this!

The ambiance was modern but classic and simple. The cocktail with hibiscus was fresh and delicious! The food was fresh and wonderful. Great service and great energy! Definitely will be back as they continue to expand their menu.
