Learn how to use google 101!

Who would have thought one day, google could improve from simple search engine in 1998 to the necceserity in our everyday life. By having more than 3.5 billion searches every day, Google has been changed to a phrase which people use as “google it”. It does not matter you are searching for a movie to watch in your break or like me searching for the iclicker answer, you always want the most accurate and direct result. However, it does not matter how significant you search your subject, there are always some irrelevant results that waste your time and make you angry. Here are some helpful points that can help you to not look at the second page of the results

1.Quotation mark

quotation mark is neccesary for searching the significant phrase. When you put your search subject in the quotation marks google search the whole phrase instead of word by word

2.Tabs

Use google tabs such as picture, news, shopping to improveyour search result. For example, when you search about batman you can use different tabs for different results.

3.Asterisk

when you put the world between the astersik, it tells google that you are not sure about this word and google can replace it with other words. this feature is useful when you want to search for a song by lyrics, but you just remember some of the lyrics.

4.Boolean (Or, And)

To get better results for you can search multiple words or phrases together. If you use “or” it gives youthe results of one subject ether the other one, and if you use “and” google give you the results that contains all of the subjects. Additional you can use “|” as “or” as well.

5.Definitions and synonyms

Google has an ability to find a definitions or synonyms fast. For this ability google finds the definition by comparing different dictionaries. For example, to find the definition of ‘effect” use: definition: effect and for synonym use: ~effect

6.File format

This feature is mostly operational for students who need to find a specific file type for their assignment or reports. simply add filetype: command to your search object. For instance: statistical analysis for elastic filetype:pdf

7.Pronounce numbers

If like me, you are bad at math, you probably cannot read massive numbers, but don’t worry google can help you. Basically by typing “=english” at the end of the massive number google can pronounce it for you.

8.Math

Google has the ability to do your math problems, whether it is a simple or complex trigonometry. Simply write the equation and search it. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to bring phones to math exams. Also, google can be used as a calculator, tip calculator and timer by just typing them.
