I’ve made the comparison of available at FxPro trading platforms in one of the previous articles. There I explained why the FxPro MT4 account is the most suitable one for long-term trading that I practice.
I keep receiving additional questions from new traders that ask for more details on the pros and cons of MT4. Others ask how to set up the trading account for trading with this version of MetaTrader. This helped me realize that new traders have a different look at the process. What is evident to some people can become a challenge to others. This is why I registered a new demo account with my broker today and made some screenshots of the process. This article is a detailed step by step guide on how to register an FxPro MT4 account.

The screenshot contains the most important features comparison. There are more there, but they all seem to be unimportant to me. Basically, all my concerns about whether to choose Mt4 or MT5 platforms were evolving around the DoM and Indicators. DoM is available at MT5 only, but there are MANY more custom indicators that you can use with MT4.
I chose FxPro MT4 as I realized that DoM couldn’t give me reliable enough information on the market situation. The CFD market is decentralized. What can I see in the DoM? That’s not gonna be a full picture anyway as it will contain the order flow of just one liquidity provider. That’s a number of indicators and the opportunity to seek advice at an amazingly big MT4 web-community that mattered most for me personally. I know there are fewer timeframes in the older MetaTrader version, but do you really care for anything but golden standards when it comes to timeframes?

Getting started with FxPro MT4 account

The first thing you need to do is find a registration form on FxPro official website. I’ll leave it up to you to complete this challenge.
There you’ll be asked some standard questions, and I recommend answering all of them truthfully. Nobody will ever check on your real income or trading experience, but I think it’s a good idea to start a relationship with any partner being honest with one another.

You may find it interesting that FxPro will check on your understanding of how leverage works and your risk tolerance. Look at the last question. I don’t think there is one correct answer to this one. In any case, the question made me think a while about how well I’m prepared to lose all I fund my account with. Black swan arrival is always a surprise, you know. I guess this thinking process is the purpose of a question to be there. Traders have to acknowledge the risks.

Ok, you’ve completed the registration and have access to your personal dashboard at FxPro now. The registration of a live and demo account is the next step.

Now you need to choose the favored trading platform and limit the leverage to an acceptable ratio. These are going to be your live trading account settings. They can be different for a demo account. You should also choose the desired currency that you will fund your live account with.

Login in your MT4 trading account

Once you visit the Tools section of FxPro website and select MT4, you’ll find the three options available to start trading with this platform. The process is similar to both live and demo accounts with the only difference. The server you select for a trading session and account credentials you use when login into account are different for live and demo. Similarly, credentials and servers are all the same for WebTrader, FxPro Mt4 for Mac and for Windows.

Where to get the credentials? That’s a good question. The answer is not obvious, but the steps to follow are easy. In your personal dashboard on the left side go to the Accounts section. You will see something similar to the picture below

The small button that the arrow is pointing at is the Password Reset button. The new credentials — server, account number and password will be sent to the e-mail address you’ve used during the registration. Guess what’s next? Yeah, right. Press the button and get the new credentials the same minute on your e-mail account!
The last thing you will need to do is pick the FxPro MT4 version that you prefer. WebTrader will be available right away, without any additional setups. Windows and Mac versions have to be downloaded and installed. Fortunately, nowadays the installation process is automated and you won’t need anything but run a downloaded MT4 setup file.
Once the program is started, choose the server and log into account. If your internet connection is fine and credentials are correct, you’ll hear a specific MetaTrader connection sound. That means you can now enjoy safe trading with FxPro MT4 with live quotes.
