Watch: NEWSTED Premiered 11 New Songs, Covered METALLICA & MOTÖRHEAD At Reunion Show

So basically a whole new Newsted record.

Jason Newsted brought his Newsted project back to the stage for the first time in seven years on May 20, and most of the show was new material. Newsted ripped through a 20 song setlist, 11 of which were new songs, five of which were covers, and four from his own Heavy Metal Music album and Metal EP. The show ran as follows:

  1. "Heroic Dose"
  2. "Burn the Scarecrow" (New song)
  3. "Heart of Stone" (New song)
  4. "Black Sheep" (New song)
  5. "Mud Song" (New song)
  6. "…As the Crow Flies"
  7. "Soldierhead"
  8. "Good Guys" (New song)
  9. "Live Fast" (New song)
  10. "Full Moon" (New song)
  11. "Iron Fish" (New song)
  12. "Long Time Dead"
  13. "Black Dog" (New song)
  14. "Stab" (New song)
  15. "Whiplash" (Metallica cover)
  16. "Jezebel" (New song)
  17. "Stranglehold" (Ted Nugent cover)
  18. "I Just Want To Have Something To Do" (Ramones cover)
  19. "Love Me Like a Reptile" (Motörhead cover)
  20. "(We Are) The Road Crew" (Motörhead cover)

So what are the chances Newsted actually comes back with a new record and tours? According to Jason himself in a recent interview prior to the performance, the May 20 show was the decider.

"This is gonna be the gauge. Is it possible for them to spring me back into it like they did [when I played with Metallica in 2011] at the Fillmore?" he said. "This we will find out on May 20, if they bring me back. If they bring me back, then they do, and if they don't, they don't, and here I am and I'm still happy. It's gonna be a crazy fucking show. We've been working hard on the songs, and I'm ready to give it."

Jason Newsted formed his Newsted band in 2012, put out an EP named Metal and a record named Heavy Metal Music in 2013, and shut the project down in 2014. Newsted finally reunited for one show on May 20 at Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdale, FL, which you can check out way more footage of below.
