Tobtok and farfetch’d line up new collaborative EP, ‘My Friends’

Swedish producers Tobtok and farfetch’d have teamed up on a collaborative six-track EP landing this September via London-based label Perfect Havoc.

The new release, titled ‘My Friends’, features six brand new tracks traversing piano house, rave, drum ‘n’ bass, and disco in their “most experimental” project to date.

The new body of work hopes to step away from the producers’ impressive bodies of work and will see the pair move in a new direction collaboratively.

Speaking on the EP, Tobtok - aka Tobias Karlsson - explained: “The concept of the whole EP was to do something really playful and have fun.”

“We experimented with new ways of thinking. We tried not to think about what’s going to stream or what’s gonna go viral on TikTok, we just wanted to make music that we like.”

The first single from the forthcoming EP, ‘I Like When You’, is out today, premiering now via Mixmag. Listen below.

The new release sees the pair take a fresh approach to their productions as they blend Tobtok’s signature style of nu disco with farfetch’d’s groove-laden sound, forming an experimental cut that shifts away from their solo projects.

“We started out with these whacky drum and bass beats on ‘I Like When You’ as we wanted to try it out and see if we could do something in this field,” said Tobtok.

“We failed at doing a drum and bass record, but it ended up being something unique. We experimented a lot and had a lot of fun with it.”

'My Friends' is out this September via Perfect Havoc. Purchase their first single, 'I Like When You', here.
