Russia’s National Guard press service member Sergei Postnov killed in Ukraine

A staff member of the press service of the Russian National Guard, colonel Sergei Postnov, was killed in the war in Ukraine on the night between 13 June and 14 June. The information was shared by the Veteran Council of the central office of the Department of Internal Affairs.

It is noted that Postnov died “in the line of duty.” He was the head of the media response team of the first division of the media cooperation department of Russia’s National Guard.

“For more than four months, Sergei Postnov carried out service-related tasks in the area of the special operation. As part of the “V” group, he stormed Hostomel and later participated in liberating a number of cities and towns of the Kharkiv region and the Luhansk people’s republic”, the Council says in a message.

In 2002 he ended up in the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He worked as a correspondent and editor in the local newspaper “Zorky Tchasovoi” (“Watchful sentry”) and later in the office of the military magazine “Na boevom postu” (“On active duty”), the Council added.

On 29 May, a Russian news outlet Mediazona confirmed the death of Vladimir Ivanov, a 41-year-old colonel and employee of the Russian Defence Ministry’s press service. Before that, Yevgeny Poddubny, a reporter working for the Russian state TV, shared that Ivanov was killed while “fighting Ukrainian Nazis”.
