Joan (Bennett) Lohrman

MARGARETVILLE - Joan (Bennett) Lohrman, 91, formerly of Franklin, passed away suddenly on April 18, 2023, at Westchester Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, Richard F. Lohrman; and sister-in-law, Sharon Bennett.
Joan is survived by her two adoring daughters, Nancy Seiden of Kingston, Massachusetts, and Susan Lohrman of New Hampton. She leaves behind three grandsons, Garrett Seiden of Aiea, Hawaii, Connor Seiden of Rochester, and Trevor Seiden of Centerville, Virginia; one brother, John Bennett; and nephews, Steven and David Bennett.
Joan was born in Franklin, the daughter of Clyde Bennett and Ruth A. Bowman.
A 1949 graduate of Franklin Central School (DLI) and 1952 graduate of Hartwick College, she married her college sweetheart, Richard "Dick" Lohrman in June of 1953. They later adopted their two children.
She was known in the area as the "Tupperware lady" for the many years she worked as a Tupperware manager.
She was the quintessential homemaker and baker of the "world's best apple pie."
An avid reader, she volunteered her time at the Franklin Free Library and was also a lifelong member of the Onesiphorai Reading Club.
A lifelong member of Franklin Methodist Church, founded by Joan's family; over the years Joan taught Sunday school, sang in the church choir, was actively involved in the young couples group known as Crusaders, and served on numerous committees. Her friendships with other members, especially among the Crusaders, survived over the years and extend into the second and third generations. She devoted her life to God, her family, friends and the community in which she lived and loved. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be offered at 11 a.m., Friday, April 28, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 307 Main St., Franklin. The service will be led by the Rev. Betsy Ott of Franklin. Burial will immediately follow in Ouleout Valley Cemetery.
The family thanks the staff at Mountainside Residential Care Center for their compassionate care. Our deepest gratitude to Dawn Komosinski of AM/PM Home Care Inc. for always going above and beyond for our family over the years.
