DELHI - Roslyn M. Weiss passed away on Aug. 26, 2023, at Robinson Terrace Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Stamford.
She was born on June 30, 1938, in Bronx.
Roz grew up in the Bronx and graduated from the High School of Industrial Arts in New York City in 1956. She had wonderful memories of growing up in her neighborhood and spending summers in the Catskills with her family or at sleepaway camp. She earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in art education from New York University.
In June 1960, she married the love of her life, Arnold Weiss, after a short courtship. With the birth of their daughter, Linda, they became parents. Roz was an amazing mother, so patient, supportive, and loving. They lived in New York City until 1969, when they moved to Cresskill, New Jersey. They lived in New Jersey for nine years, and in 1978, they bought a cabin in Delhi. After almost two years of spending weekends and holidays there, they moved to Delhi full-time.
Roz was a gifted art teacher. She taught for many years at New York City, Long Island, and New Jersey schools before moving to Delhi. After the full-time move to Delhi, she worked as a vocational evaluator at the ARC of Delaware County for several years. She went back to teaching art through Otsego Northern Catskills BOCES for many years until her retirement. She taught art classes in the South Kortright, Andes, Delhi, Downsville, Oneonta, Morris, and Charlotte Valley school districts. Her creative lessons connected her students to art in a way that helped them realize their talents and appreciate art and creativity. Through the years, she enjoyed running into former students. Many would thank her for all she did for them when they were children or in high school. She loved those encounters.
Before and during her retirement from teaching, Roslyn was involved in her family's business, Meredith Mountain Farms, Inc. Arnie designed the process to smoke cheeses, and she was right there with him doing her part to grow their business. Together, they shipped their products all over the country and, often, across the globe. The product line included Applewood smoked hard cheeses, horseradish cheddar spreads with different spirits, a variety of unique mustards, and amazing fudge that Arnie made from scratch. The business thrived until they decided to retire in 2002.
Roz had many hobbies. She was so artistic and dabbled in many types of arts and crafts projects. Besides drawing, she knit, was an avid sewer of clothing, and, in her retirement, discovered the quilting style that spoke to her creativity the most: crazy quilting.
Roslyn leaves behind her beloved family, daughter, Linda Blocker, son-in-law, Seth Blocker, and grandchildren, Rachel and Benjamin Blocker, all of Delhi. She is also survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Barry and Judy Weiss; nephew, Steven Weiss and his family; and her niece, Jessica Weiss.
She was predeceased by her mother and father, Jean and Louis Friedlander; sister, Judy; and in-laws, Freda and Robert Weiss.
The family thanks the staff of Robinson Terrace in Stamford, staff of Helios Care, Delhi Fire Department, Delhi EMS, and all of the caregivers who took wonderful care of Roz while she was at home. We are forever grateful.

A private graveside service occurred on Friday, Sept. 1, in Temple Beth El Cemetery in Oneonta. A gathering to honor Roslyn's life will occur at the family's convenience.
