Sharon Knight

OTTUMWA-Shirley Sharon West Knight, 75, of Ottumwa, died February 26, 2023 at home.

She was born November 30, 1947 in Coal Holler, MO to Darwin and Betty Lou Moore West.  Sharon married Donald Hormann on July 13, 1966 and they later divorced.  She married Richard Knight Sr. on June 22, 1989 and he preceded her in death on February 19, 2018.

A 1966 graduate of Davis County High School, Sharon earned a cosmetology degree from the Iowa School of Beauty and a degree in computer programming from Indian Hills Community College.

She was a computer programmer analyst where she traveled working with many well-known companies.  Every family member had their hair taken care of by Sharon.

Sharon attended The Bridge Church.  She loved music, dancing, bowling, watching any of the criminal investigation shows and especially enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Surviving are her daughters, Sue (Tracy) Adler and Sonya (Jenni) Hormann, both of Ottumwa; step-children, Dee Minella, Monna (Bill) Schaetner, Janice Bardwell and Richard (Rose) Knight Jr; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Kenneth McDaniel, Charles McDaniel, Pamela West and Gary West; and step-daughter, Janet Carnes.

Visitation will begin at 12 p.m. Wednesday, March 1st at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 2nd at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Craig Zuithoff officiating.   The service will be livestreamed on the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page.  Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
