Jamaican dancehall artist Adidja Palmer popularly known as Vybz Kartel is reportedly battling with Graves’s disease, an autoimmune disorder that can cause hyperthyroidism or overactive thyroid which is said to be life-threatening to the entertainer.

News broke of Vybz Kartel’s medical condition on Wednesday (May 31) after Fox 5 News reporter Lisa Evers obtained a sworn medical affidavit where the entertainer’s private doctor notified that his Grave’s Disease and heart condition is getting worse and could be fatal if surgery is not done.

Palmer’s Attorney Isat Buchanon in an interview with Fox 5 said that: “Mr Palmer’s illness is actually life-threatening.”

“He’s in a cell and if you can picture a brick oven because that’s how the cells are built with no ventilation,” Buchanan added.

The entertainer is reportedly in a 23-hour lockdown after he was found in possession of two cell phones at the Tower Street Correctional Facility.
