Da Silva Named To Wooden Award Watch List

Nov 14, 2023

BOULDER – University of Colorado senior Tristan da Silva is one of 50 watch-list members for the 2023-24 John R. Wooden Award the organization announced on Tuesday.

Chosen by a preseason poll of national college experts, the list is comprised of 50 student-athletes who are the early front-runners for the most prestigious honors in college basketball, the Wooden Award All America Team and Most Outstanding Player Award.

Da Silva was a 2022-23 All-Pac-12 Conference First Team selection as a junior, leading Colorado at 15.9 points per game on just under 50 percent shooting. He led the Buffaloes with 54 3-point field goals and 44 steals while ranking second on the team in rebounding with 168.

The preseason honors are rolling in for da Silva. Colorado's active career leader in scoring, da Silva is one of 20 members of the Karl Malone Award Watch List for the nation's best power forward and one of 50 on the Naismith Trophy Watch List.

He was named to Blue Ribbon Yearbook's Preseason All-America Fourth Team and tabbed Preseason All-Pac-12 by both league media and the Almanac, while also being named the latter publication's 56th best player in the nation. A truly positionless player, da Silva topped NCAA.com's Andy Katz's list of the best small forwards in the nation and listed as one of his top 10 seniors in the nation overall.

Two games into the 2023-24 season, da Silva is averaging 17.0 points and 4.5 rebounds while hitting 72 percent from the field and 60 percent from 3-point range. The No. 25 (Associated Press) ranked Buffaloes continue nonconference action Tuesday night by hosting Milwaukee at 7 p.m. at the CU Events Center.
