Cedar Creek High School midfielder Mia McColl broke the program's career scoring record with her 143rd goal Monday in a 17-3 girls lacrosse win over visiting Oakcrest.
McColl, a senior, needed four goals to tie the record of 142 set by Taylor Emmell through 2018. McColl broke the record with her fifth goal of the game late in the first half. McColl finished the game with six goals, giving her 20 on the season and 144 in her career.
"Mia is the opposite of a ball hog," Cedar Creek coach Rebecca Gordon said. "She wants everyone on her team to score, so it's even more incredible that she's breaking this record. She's absolutely team-first always. She's been a captain every year I've been coach. Her teammates always vote her in, so she has been a leader ever since she was a sophomore."
McColl also got two assists. Emily Winterbottom and Quinlan Branca both scored three with one assist, and Zalia Mazzone tallied two. Gianna Thoms, Kendall Caruso and Sara Gutierrez each added a goal. Sierra Sketers made six saves for the win.
