Hey there, SEO enthusiasts! I’m back again with another article on SEO and SEMrush, for beginners. If you’re more than a beginner, this article will still be a valuable one, to learn some new perspectives.

Today, let’s dive into the amazing world of SEMrush, a tool that can take your online presence to new heights.

I have been using SEMrush free and paid for more than a year now, and I remember starting with the free plan testing out the features on my first niche site that I started with a friend.

Since then, I have had this superpower to easily analyze the SERPs with this amazing tool, that has so many features to blow your mind.

But some of them, have been very helpful while I was starting out.

If you’re just starting out on your SEO journey, fear not! I’m here to share with you the five top features of SEMrush that I think will be the most valuable for you, in the simplest and easiest way possible.

Let’s start without any BS…

1. Keyword Magic Tool: Unlocking the Magic of Keywords

Imagine you’re planning a treasure hunt, and keywords are your treasure map.

SEMrush’s Keyword Magic Tool is like having a magical map that helps you find the best keywords for your website.

You can type in words related to your content, and like magic, it suggests tons of other words and phrases people are searching for. Use these keywords wisely, and watch your website climb the search engine ladder!

(Will tell you more deeply about keyword research in the upcoming articles)

2. Site Audit: Your Website’s Health Check-Up

Just like going to the doctor for a check-up, your website needs one too! SEMrush’s Site Audit is like a superhero doctor for your site.

It looks at every niche and its gaps, checking for issues that might stop search engines from loving your site or your clients.

Broken links, slow pages, heavy images— it catches them all. Fixing these issues is like giving your website a healthy diet, making it more attractive to search engines and users alike.

This is the best thing in the long run. it keeps you updated with the issues on your site, based on the new Google updates and you’re damn good to go, every single month.

3. Backlink Analytics: Building Bridges to Your Website

Picture your website as a treehouse, and backlinks are the bridges leading to it.

SEMrush’s Backlink Analytics helps you see who’s building bridges to your treehouse. This is somewhat similar to Ahref's one, the competitor.

Good-quality backlinks from trustworthy websites make your site more popular in the online neighborhood.

The more bridges you have, the easier it is for people (and search engines) to find your treehouse. If you ain’t aware of them, you’re at the biggest loss, as search engines' main priority is to check backlinks now (in 2023).

4. Position Tracking: Keeping an Eye on Your Race

Now, ever run a race and wondered who’s ahead?

Position Tracking in SEMrush is something similar to having a scoreboard for your website. It shows where your website ranks on search engines for different keywords.

Keep an eye on this scoreboard regularly to see if your site is moving up or needs a little boost. It’s your very own race to the top of search engine results! And remember, this will be competitive.

5. On-Page SEO Checker: Your Website’s Personal Coach

Think of your website as a talented athlete preparing for a big game. The On-Page SEO Checker in SEMrush is like having a personal coach.

Tired of going to each page and seeing the main issues? Not anymore!!!

It looks at every page on your site and suggests improvements to make it perform better. From using the right keywords to optimizing your content, this tool guides you step by step, turning your website into a top performer.

The good thing is, you can prioritize which ones to do first, that will impact the most on your site and which ones later.

Won’t that make a difference in your work? Yeah… Raj is always right!

Conclusion

That’s how SEMrush acts as a superhero toolkit for anyone stepping into the exciting world of SEO, especially beginners.

It’s just that the more resistance you face when you’re starting out, the less chances you have of continuing in the journey until you have a massive will to continue.

And, having tools that ease the work and give you an edge to understand how exactly stuff works, you’ll start to appreciate the game and start focussing on making your own strategy to tackle websites.

Whether you’re finding the perfect keywords, giving your website a health check-up, building bridges with backlinks, keeping track of your race, or getting personalized coaching for your site, SEMrush has got your back.

These are the top 5 that will help you out as a beginner the most. If you wanna explore more, you should surely start with a 7-day free trial (if you haven’t already) to get a good hand on the various features that are available to you and how you can use them to your benefit.

So, dear beginners, fear not the SEO adventure. If you move one step at a time and do it consistently, it has the power to give you the skills and make a good living for you, just like it did for me and many other SEOs.

I also have a newsletter where I share my best weekly experience and learning related to SEO. Feel free to check out here.
