World of Wonder unveils drag-band docuseries Frockumentary

Drag Race prodco World of Wonder has announced a new documentary series, Frockumentary, about RuPaul’s Drag Race UK alums and their band, the Frock Destroyers.

The 4 x 25-minute series will premiere on March 15 exclusively on World of Wonder’s streaming platform WOW Presents Plus, with new episodes rolling out weekly.

Frockumentary catches up with Baga Chipz, Divina DeCampo and Blu Hydrangea, who formed the Frock Destroyers as part of the girl-band challenge on the 2019 season of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK and whose cover of “Break Up (Bye Bye)” became the first-ever UK top 10 hit performed by a drag group. The new series follows them as they record, release and perform their debut album, Frock4Life, amid the global pandemic, facing numerous obstacles along the way.

Frockumentary is produced as part of WOW Docs, World of Wonder’s documentary division launched in 2020 and headed up by Jim Fraenkel. Executive producers for World of Wonder are Randy Barbato, Fenton Bailey and Tom Campbell.

Blue Ant Media launching new Homeful channel

Global producer, distributor and channel operator Blue Ant Media has announced the launch of its new FAST channel, Homeful, on the free, ad-supported streaming service XUMO.

The home design-focused channel features programming based around real estate, renovations and transformations, much of it exclusive in the free streaming ecosystem.

The Homeful launch is an extension of Blue Ant Media’s partnership with XUMO, which also includes the Love Nature FAST channel, which launched in May 2020 and joins XUMO’s roster of more than 200 channels across 12 genres.

“Homeful, which is packed with fan-favorite, exclusive home-themed series, is a great addition to our growing portfolio of free streaming channels that super-serve niche audiences with compelling content they love to lean back and enjoy,” said Jamie Schouela, president, global channels and media at Blue Ant Media, in a release. “This channel will fill a gap in the FAST landscape for home-themed content and provide inspiration at a time when renovations and redecorating are a hot topic as we all spend more time at home.”

BBC Daytime commissions Northern Justice from Middlechild

BBC Daytime has commissioned Northern Justice (w/t), a new factual series produced by Middlechild that focuses on legal professionals working in the northeast of England, for BBC One mornings.

The 10 x 30-minute series will explore what happens when ordinary people who are facing extraordinary times in their lives turn to local lawyers in their time of need. The show will feature first-person testimony from both lawyers and clients, with each episode examining two or three different stories. Cases range from problems at work to property disputes, medical negligence, and pensioners falling prey to con artists.

Northern Justice was commissioned by Carla-Maria Lawson, head of BBC Daytime and Early Peak. Commissioning editors for BBC Daytime are Helen Munson and Rachel Platt. Andrew Eastel and David Sumnall serve as executive producers for Middlechild.

“We are delighted to be working with Middlechild on their first series from their new northeast base. The team [not only has a] real commitment [to] reflecting authentic voices on screen, but also a passion for growing and developing off-screen talent in the region,” said BBC’s Munson in a release.
