Chinese-backed firms quit Romania solar farm bid amid EU subsidy probe
May 14, 2024 18:11 CESTRussian photovoltaics (PVs) manufacturer Hevel Group has commissioned a floating solar system, built on the reservoir of the Nizhne-Bureyskaya hydropower plant (HPP) in the Amur region in Russia's Far East.
Russia's first floating solar plant is equipped with 140 panels mounted on pontoon-type floats and storage batteries to be able to operate in stand-alone mode, Hevel said.
The new plant is expected to generate 53,500 kWh per year.
The specially designed buoyant pontoons reduce the time needed for construction and dismantlement and can be easily transported to any part of the reservoir, the Russian solar company said.
In December 2019, Hevel commissioned the first stage of a 1.2-MW ground-mounted solar park installed at the Nizhne-Bureyskaya HPP. In its first six months of operation, the PV system produced 558,700 kWh to cover some of the HPP’s electricity needs.
