Chinese-backed firms quit Romania solar farm bid amid EU subsidy probe
May 14, 2024 18:11 CESTRussia’s Hevel Solar, majority-owned by Russian businessman Mikhail Sivoldayev's Ream Management, has secured 40 MW of solar capacity in two separate renewables tenders in Kazakhstan.
The photovoltaics (PVs) manufacturer said on Monday it has been awarded two projects of 20 MW each, without providing pricing details. The solar farms are planned to go online in 2022.
According to data published by domestic power market operator JSC KOREM, Hevel Kazakhstan has won the capacity with bids of KZT 14.58 (USD 0.035/EUR 0.029) per kWh and KZT 16.96/kWh, respectively.
With the contracted projects, Hevel Solar will lift its installed capacity in Kazakhstan to 288 MW. Currently, it operates eight PV plants across the country totalling 248 MW, with the largest one being the 100-MW Nura park that was switched on in May.
Hevel Solar noted it intends to further grow in Kazakhstan, both by taking part in domestic renewables tenders and through acquisitions.
