It's been a while since I've posted in the Middle Grade section! Now I'm returning for a post about Rick Riordan's The Kane Chronicles!
Background Information of the Book
Rick Riordan has written many books about mythology. The Kane Chronicles is his story about Egyptian mythology. It’s told in alternating points of view of the protagonists, Carter and Sadie Kane. The Red Pyramid is the first book in the series, succeeded by The Throne of Fire. The Serpent’s Shadow is the third book in the series. Author-Rick Riordan Page Count-516 Lexile Level-650
Summary of the Book
(don’t worry, there are no spoilers from this book) Imagine hardly knowing your sibling. Crazy, right? But it’s Carter and Sadie Kane’s reality. Since their mother’s death, Sadie has lived with their grandparents in London while Crater has traveled the world with his father. On a Christmas Eve gone wrong, Dr. Julius Kane, their father, brings them to the British Museum for a “research experiment”. Unfortunately, he releases five Egyptian gods and lands his kids in loads of trouble. Shortly after, Carter and Sadie discover that the world is in danger of destruction. They could be the only chance of saving human existence. While unraveling mysteries about their family and those who are helping them accomplish their mission, the Kane siblings encounter many challenges. Will they be able to achieve this feat before time is up?
My Thoughts on the Book
I have read so many of Riordan’s novels, and this one did not disappoint. As usual, it was full of detail. He added many hieroglyphics and information on Egyptian mythology, which really helped me (I don’t know much about Egyptian myths). In my opinion, there was a lot of planning that went into the story as it was quite elaborate. Similar Posts
