The Tretyakov Gallery is the museum of Russian painting from the 14th century (icons) to the 20th century. It is a veritable encyclopedia of Russian life with the largest repository of Russian Fine Arts in the world and has over 130,000 works.

One of few Monasteries that has retained its original appearance intact since the 17th century. In 2004 the monastery was declared a World Heritage. According to legend, the beautiful lake, located next to the walls of the Monastery inspired masterpiece of the famous Russian composer Piotr Tchaikovsky called "The Swan Lake”.

Sergiev Posad is situated about 60 km from Moscow.
