Little Handprints to Make a Memorable Keepsake Perfect for Special Occasions!

I like to find the perfect gift! However, I think I’ve only hit the target a rare few times in my life. 🙂 These handprint cards hit the target in many ways! Not only is it a little bit of sweetness, it also is a fun keepsake!

These darling cards will be the perfect choice for so many happy days we celebrate: Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, a birthday, Christmas or my favorite reason ‘Just Because!’ The little creations end up being perfect for a baby book or a framed memory!

Wonderfully, the supply list is short! All you need is:

Ideally you are starting with a well rested and fed toddler. Sounds like a dream right?!? Just maybe feed them a snack before you begin the undertaking. Also two adults working with the kids tends to make this a smoother process! I found my kids to be easy going for these projects. They love to be a part of the creating!

After you have gathered your supplies and wiggly hand model, practice doing the stamping motion with the kiddo by placing their hand in just the right place on the paper. (Obviously talking them through the production!) After the practice, I add faint pencil guidelines on the paper if the placement of the hand or foot needs to be precise.

Now you just need to paint their hand and give the card a little stamp! Wipe off the hand or foot and allow your hand print art to dry. Later when it is dry, you can add whatever sharpie details to finish the project!

Additionally, your final creation will clearly not be perfect, so relax and just let the handprint evolve into the imperfect cuteness! If you are working with a one or two year old, fingers tend to be super wiggly! I’ve often tried a second attempt and ended up using the first stamp anyway!

Google “children handprint art” for dozens of ideas! Not only are these cards simple, inexpensive and a short time investment, but they have a great wonderful wow factor! One of our preschool teachers helped our young kids create an entire calendar of handprint art that we loved. What a fun memento to capture a sweet moment in time. Have fun creating!
