Man, I had no expectations going into this game. However, the Vikings managed to get our hopes up by going into halftime tied with the Chiefs. The Vikings offense went into 3-and-out mode to start the half, and the Chiefs built a lead. Then, the Vikings did just enough to give us hope again, then gave us another gut shot as they basically ended the game by taking a sack on a hail of mary play at the end of the game.
Mistakes are klling this team’s season. Fumbles are an obvious issue. Dropped passes are also an issue, as are errantly placed passes at times. We could go on and on, but those are sticking out to me.
Hockenson is NOT earning his keep at this point. He can shove his ear ache, and start making catches now that he got his contract. The O-line is still not elite, but they are improved and are no longer THE problem.
The team has issues, yet they almost beat the Super Bowl Champs. Now JJ’s status is unknown as he left the game with an apparent hamstring issue. This friggin’ team, man.

The team wont tank, but they should sell and take advantage of the opportunity that many thought they wouldnt have. Move assets, grow draft capitol, win the 4ish games you might have a chance in and call it a season.

IOL has been doing a bit better so maybe Risner was ‘incentive’/injury insurance.

I will always root for the Vikings, but this year I may also cheer on the Lions as I am so sick of hearing about the constant love for the Eagles, 49ers, Cowboys, etc.

I’m definitely rooting for the Lions. I really enjoy watching the 49ers too, albeit a little jealous of those studs in the trenches, and their defense is a thing of beauty. Enjoyed watching them curb stomp the Cowboys. I will NEVER root for the Packers, enjoyed watching them lose to the Raiders, who aren’t very good. Could someone please beat the freaking Eagles, UGH!

I had a similar situation in reverse.

I like KOC so far, KAM has not impressed me yet, but it’s too early to know for sure with either of them. I’d keep JJ and build around him, every team needs an identity, and he’s a perfect fit for that. Kid just wants to win.
Flores will likely be gone in a year or two if he continues to improve the D. He’ll get another HC gig at some point soon.
We should have hired Flores for HC, and KOC for OC.
I am starting to think KOC’s feel good love you guys schtick is leading to undisciplined play. Dropped passes, fumbles, missed int’s etc. Or maybe just a run of bad luck. A 62 year run of bad luck.

The first game or two, you can blame rust/not playing starters in preseason. After that, one or two undisciplined players, bench them until they improve. This many mistakes by this many players at this stage of the season, look to coaching/front office.
As everyone knows, you are what you record is and ours is not good. But in many ways we seem to be better than last year. Fumbles are killing us, but think it’s even more basic.
First game. ball in receivers hands at goal and the ball gets pulled out.
Next, drop a ball at goal line out of endzone.
Next, ball in receiver’s hand at goal line.
Yesterday, two dropped TD passes – again in our hands.
Qb’s will miss throws, lineman will miss blocks and defenders will miss tackles. But, when the ball is in your hands,just hang on to it. Makes a big difference between 4 -1 and 1-4.

A lot of the national media is still harping on how bad the Vikings defense is this year but I actually think they’ve played pretty well for the most part, especially when you consider how many bad situations the offense has put them in via turnovers. Opposing offenses have benefited from a lot of short fields, not to mention we have the 2nd lowest time of possession in the league this year.
Our star studded offense that can’t hang onto the ball (and, more recently, can’t catch it either) and head coaching gaffs are the team’s biggest issues. Our defense is good enough to win a lot of games, IMO.
The defense is better than last year. Doesn’t mean its good mind you, but its better than last year.

the clock mis-management stuff needs to stop. either don’t rely on EVERY SINGLE DETAIL of a play call from KOC to be heard through the headset, or don’t call a play that takes 13 seconds to call. whatever is happening, it needs to stop.

There has to be some sort of ‘nascar’ package for 2 minute drill/no TO scenarios where the play calls are simple and quick – something where ‘Gun Right Trips Shit Rip Freeze’ becomes ‘razor’ or something along those lines. Quick calls – or a series of calls made at once. I dunno – anything other than killing 15 seconds of precious clock.

I’d start with Mattison dropping what should have been a game tying TD.
Then I’d go right after the first play fumble.
Then move into Osborne open in the end zone, but doesn’t look for the ball.
As a side note, Osborne and Mattison have not done well stepping into their new roles this year.
Then Mettilus getting position for an int. Or just bat the ball down on 3rd and 18 from the 10 yard line.
Then I’d just add in all 3 of TJs drops. He’s literally killing drives.

I’d maybe throw in another 40 or 50 things, then I’d finally get around to a pass that statistically almost never works, and is literally named after a prayer.

Also, the play where Kirk hit Addison on that crossing route, you could see KJ? Powell? WIDE FREAKING OPEN in the end zone along the same sight path.
The ball was behind him, but he never even looks for it.
If you watch a ton of tape on guys like AT, he makes that catch in the end zone.
Good WRs can anticipate where the ball will be the second it leaves the QBs hands.
KJ isn’t even looking at Kirk, so he can’t adjust to the ball.
I’d have to watch the replay, but it looked like to me KJ could have been hit in the helmet and wouldn’t have seen the ball.
It looked like he saw it last second and realized his momentum would not let him catch it. He appeared to fling an arm back behind his head to no avail…
Don’t like to slam players too much, but KJ doesn’t seem to have the ability to adjust to the ball very well He also seems to have a problem using his body to shield a defender off.

The one Kirk issue I’d be most concerned about is his decline in accuracy this year.
We’ve seen flashes of this before, but it’s been more prominent this year.
His passes are off a bit. Not all of them, but way more than I’m comfortable with.
And KJ has a piss poor ability to adjust to this.
Addison is still learning and will get their.
TJ likes to drop tough or contested catches.
Add all this up, and you get 1-4.

Good take – and you’re correct about Mattison and KJ. They’ve not looked good. KJ in the end zone yesterday should’ve been a gimme score. He looked completely lost. Mattison’s drop was brutal. Surefire score with time on the clock and a motivated crowd (the ones in purple anyway)

My sister’s and I bought my grandma a ticket to the game Tuesday. My mom and sister are gonna go with her. I really hope they win or at the very least make a good game of it.
I think Kirk should have stiff armed the 300 pound DE bearing down on him the last play of the game and thrown a perfect corner of EZ pass to TJ “sure hands” Hockenson only for the NFL to review the replay for adequate field black rubber emanating from the toe of his cleat. Or how about holding on the otherwise successful two point attempt and Joseph misses the subsequent PAT attempt.
So many ways that game could have ended even without a sack.
All in all KOC called a damn good game against Andy Reid and co.
It was an exciting game. The ups and downs of a football game are what make football so entertaining.

Harvest time is even more a free-for-all. Right now I am ravenous because I’m trying to keep up with working out in addition to harvest, so it’s like work out, cram something in face, get in tractor and then only eat what someone brings me occasionally.
Today I am at work in the morning, so it is a snacking binge!

Vikings apparently used all their timeouts with nine minutes left in the game? That is interesting. I wonder what the earliest a team has run out of timeouts in the second half is.

Just a couple of thoughts from afar – then will stop.
Lombardi used to say games come down to a handful of plays and whoever wins those, wins the game. We had our chances.
Had Chiefs in the hole, and a long PI against Smith – wow.
Had Chiefs in big hole and a long completion and we had a defender right there for an interception.

We tried Saturday to but somebody didn’t shoot straight. 350, prone, dead rest, smooth trigger pull, thump, look up and watch the antelope walk away. Still perplexed on that one. Worked out yesterday though so all good.
