The expert speaker elaborated the following major points to the participants

v He explained the basic nature of the ships and the cargo handling in the port and also the basic understanding of international business practices like Exporting, Chartering, Cargo handling etc.

v He shared his experience and the ways of sustaining the international business opportunities.

v Many students enquired about the life style and the way how ships and crew members are managed. The participants also asked the role of insurance management in shipping

Report on “Impact of Research @ Higher Educational Institutions”

Research & Publications and IPR Cell organized a program on the Impact of Research @ Higher Educational Institutions by Dr B Poorna (Former Senate Member) on 29th June 2022, at 2.30 pm in F-31 of our college premises. The event was organized to inculcate interest in Faculty Member on research and publication and to impart the importance of research in Higher Educational Institutions. The resource person explained the process of research, step by step and how the research shall impact the growth and development of faculty and the institution as a whole. The session created an understanding of the significance of research and planning for publications. Totally, 39 II MBA students and 18 faculty members were benefitted out of this program.

v  To enhance thinking skill and to find out the methods and ways for establishing entrepreneurship by applying innovative solution
Key Highlights:

The expert speaker briefly explained the following major points to the participants

v  He suggested cultivating a different way of thinking for obtaining the solution for a problem.

v  He explained the 4 levels of the course (free) for “Out of the Box Thinking for problem solving”

v  He gave live examples of Apple – Knife – Stone Theory and suggested to sharpen the brain for innovative thinking.

v  He quoted a couplet from “Thirukkural” and explained the importance of numbers and alphabets in problem solving method. He gave other examples of “Pallaankuzhi” game for mathematics to demonstrate another way of thinking. He also gave various illustrations for thinking differently for problem solving in Mathematics.

v He insisted on Education based on stories and examples like “Patti and Pongal”
Outcome of the activity:

v  The participants were able to understand the basic concept of innovation for problem.

v  They were able to understand how the innovative thinking helps to solve the problem and also to enhance entrepreneurship in business world.

SLCS SAMAAJ SEVA –AWARENESS ON RAIN WATER HARVESTING

Herbert William Henrich Association of the Department of Fire and Industrial Safety organized SLCS SAMAAJ SEVA– an extension activity program on “AWARENESS ON RAIN WATER HARVESTING” at ManaMadurai on 27/06/2022. A Student from III year FIS, K. Nivethan conducted the activity. He clarified to the public that Rain Water Harvesting is the process of saving and collecting rainwater for future use. He explained that water harvesting is very useful to meet various needs like recharge of groundwater, and reducing the electricity bill spent in supplying water whenever it is required. He insisted on the necessity of rainwater harvesting and how it prevents the risk of floods, and drought and also improves water quality.

          This initiative created awareness the public that Rain Water Harvesting is to use locally available rainwater to meet water requirements throughout the year without the need for huge capital expenditure. Around 15 People got benefitted from the activity.

Key Highlights:

Participants were made aware of certain topics by expert. The food and culture of people in different countries differ from one another, and each one has its own distinctiveness. International cuisine is incredibly vibrant and diversified. The expert discussed the most recent kitchen trends, employee grooming expectations, and customer feedback on the dishes. Additionally, he touched upon how formal instruction in a foreign cuisine can occasionally make a huge difference in a chef’s career. Since restaurants are business, they must continue to be profitable in order to remain open. Customers are constantly looking for new experiences to try. They wouldn’t want to eat the same few things each time they visit a restaurant, even if they loved it. International Cuisine provides comprehensive coverage of cuisines found throughout the world not only through recipes and techniques, but also through coverage of the history, culture, geography, religion, and locally grown ingredients that influence these various cuisines. Mr. M. PONNILANGO demonstrated this with a motivated group of second semester students. The students really enjoyed the learning experience.

 
Outcome(s) of the activity:

Students were able:

1.      To give demonstration on  international and regional foods through the production of various cuisines

2.      To apply  and assess – menu construction, colors balance, texture, flavors, and presentation of international cuisines

3.      To deliver the skills required to produce international menus.

4.       To compare dishes of different countries to explore new varieties..

v  To create awareness about the cattle and vehicle insurance to the village people.

v  To insist on taking insurance for cattle and also for vehicle insurance.

v  To provide knowledge on insurance related Government schemes to the village people.
Key Highlights:

v  The students of the 1st and 2nd B.Com (Banking and Insurance) prepared a mime show programme on the theme “Insurance and Government Scheme”.

v  They performed the mine show at Valayankulam village, nearby our college.

v  Through mine show the students explained the benefits of Cattle, vehicle insurance and Government schemes.
Outcome(s) of the activity:

v  The beneficiaries had awareness on cattle, vehicle insurance and Government schemes.

v  The village people in and around Valayankulam village appreciated the students’ mime show and their concern to take cattle and vehicle insurance.

v  People asked doubts related to cattle and vehicle insurance and Government schemes. Our students clarified their doubts.

v  Students got awareness on the problems.

v  And also they got a comprehensive knowledge, skill and attitude to work in rural area.
