On my bucket list of automotive events worldwide that I will attempt to attend in my lifetime, the Kday series is definitely up near the top. For the most part, I think I’ve gone to many of the places that I’ve always wanted to go but unfortunately, I have yet to go to Kday. I’ve been covering the events as long as I can remember but it is always through the help of Shota Mori’s great photography work. The timing just isn’t right because I am typically planning my own event as well so I have to allocate resources to get the event going. Traveling during these months is just difficult and its really hard to explain to my bank account how traveling to Japan and then going to Las Vegas for SEMA right after is a good idea. I don’t have endless amount of financial resources so sacrifices need to be made. Takeshi Kobayashi has been a dear friend of mine for years now and I really want to support him. I think I’ll make my way out to Sendai eventually for Kday, I just haven’t quite figured out when. As most of you know by now, I absolutely love Japan and everything about it. Car culture in Japan is great but what I also enjoy are the people and the interactions. Kday seems like a very private event filled with many friends so I want to be there to experience the camaraderie among them…
I’m very fortunate to have Shota Mori in Japan because he has a great eye for photography. His stuff has gotten so much better over time that now I don’t even have to retouch the photos in any way. He just shoots great photos, processes them, and then they are ready for me to mark and upload to the site. Obviously I wish I could be there but I feel like even if I was there, I’d rather have him shoot the event while I video blog or something, or just hang out, haha. In any case, I have probably like a three-part series for you guys covering most of everything at Kday. Takeshi’s events have always been consistently good so you already know there will be some good cars in the sets to come. It starts off a bit slow as Mori documents their journey there but man, I gotta say, even I was pretty surprised to see some of the cars at Kday. You’ll see a black Integra Type R later in these sets that is just incredible. Stay tuned for that. In the meantime, follow Shota Mori’s journey to Kday C5…
His coverage begins at a place called U.T. Store in the Tochigi Prefecture of Japan. U.T. is similar to like a JHPUSA here where it is a parts supplier for Japanese automotive enthusiasts. The owner, Masato Muraki is a fellow enthusiasts whom I had the chance to meet with last year when I went to Gunma to hang out with the L2P guys. He has an NSX that has slowly evolved over time and Shota is good friends with him. You guys get to see some of the cars that gather at his shop for the convoy to Sendai, which is about a three-hour or so drive….
Sitting outside of U.T. Store was this really immaculate EF9 Civic Si-R on RS Watanabe wheels. This thing is so clean it looks like it just rolled out of the car dealership in the 80s…
The interior is equally as clean with the only major modifications being a pair of Recaro seats and an old MOMO Cobra wheel…
AP2 S2000 on a set of 3-piece Work Meister S1 wheels with a black face. Thanks to the owner for supporting The Chronicles…
Kohei Taguchi’s Integra Type R running his carbon Spoon Sports front lip…
Seiya Suzuki’s Phoenix Yellow Integra Type R on Desmond EVO Brites. He had a slightly new set-up he had planned to debut at Kday but for the drive over to Sendai, he kept his usual look…
Love how this FD RX-7 looks on these aggressive concave Volk Racing SE37K…
Mori and friends on a random stop in the evening on the way to Sendai…
Interesting to see such a well-kept LHD U.S. Acura Legend in Japan…
A pair of S2000s in their convoy…

This slammed Corolla Wagon on OZ Racing wheels looked pretty good cruising…

While the Enkei wheels are the new hot thing, Work Meisters remain one of the all-time classics…
DC5 Honda Integra on Enkei RPF1…
RA1 Honda Odyssey slammed on Work Carving Head 40s…
Here’s an interesting look. I didn’t think WEDS TC05 wheels would look good on Yuki Kuroda’s FG2 Civic but it actually works. It works quite well actually…
Yuma Saito’s U.S. RPS13 240SX on forged Barramundi Design Grandy wheels…
Much like the Legend above, this Toyota Celica Supra on Work Equip 03 wheels is yet another fine example of a very well-maintained older model Japanese vehicle floating around….
Welcome to Sendai…
…and welcome to the Kday C5 event in Sportsland SUGO…
It’s always fun to see the wide variety of vehicles at the Kday events. You’ll see any and everything from highly-modded vehicle builds to something as simple as this slammed 4-door Civic with Acura Integra LS hubcaps…
There’s no particular style that this event is restricted to. You’ll even see some mini-trucks along with builds that resemble stock USDM vehicles but with chassis origins from Japan…
EG Civic hatchback on Hartge wheels…
Nicely-done engine bay on this Eunos Roadster…
The Kday staff typically consists of many of Takeshi Kobayashi’s close friends and trusted acquaintances…
USDM Acura Integra from the U.S., in Japan now, with a Japanese Integra Type R front end and 15-inch Volk Racing TE37 wheels. This is a set-up you’d likely see in the U.S., even with the Japanese parts, and that’s exactly what some of these guys are after…
Toyota Altezza with aggressively-fitted BBS mesh…
Civic Ferio hammered on re-barreled OEM Honda wheels…
The mini-truck scene is alive and well in Japan…
The USDM RA1 Odyssey you saw earlier on the Carving Head wheels…
Had the opportunity to meet some of the guys from 1B Complete last year. Really nice group of enthusiasts…
The Kday C5 event also hosted a really nice crop of VW builds from all over Japan…
Japanese Integra SI-VTEC with a USDM late-model Integra front end conversion and bronze Mugen MF8 wheels….
A couple more of Yuma Saito’s 240SX…
MK2 Golf on custom BBS wheels. Love the sidestripe. Gives it a very complete 80s appeal…
Rare HTN KS 3-piece wheels on this Golf…
…and this white MK2 was slammed on Porsche wheels…
..while this one was on Audi wheels complete with caps…
Gonna cut it off here for today with this shot of an AP1 S2000 on Super Advan Racing wheels…
Still much more to come from the show itself. Make sure to check back for the next two parts coming this week. Thanks for looking!…
That AP1 S2000 on Super Advan Racing wheels…tho
Really a great set of shots. Thanks Shota Mori & Joey. Those Carlsson 1/6 do look really good on that legend.
Aw, nothing on the pink Prelude?!
