With all the changes introduced to the rewards system, playing as the Antagonist is now more popular than ever. This has repercussions all around the players' ecosystem and many of the changes here are a consequence of it.

REWARDS
Playing as the antagonist is a challenge. The Raiders outnumber them 4 to 1 and most people will lose more than they win. And it should feel fine! Being the antagonist, is not just about victory. It is about delaying the Raiders and making their life difficult and we want to better reward that.

- Decreased difference between high and low scores on rewards when playing as the antagonist. Overall antagonist XP gains have increased

MISSION RENTING
With the release of Hades Betrayal we are also revisiting the renting system. We want to explore setups different than the current 49k/4h system and see how they work out. The goal as usual is to give users more options to enjoy Raiders of the Broken planet.

- Reduced renting duration from 4h to 2h30m
- Reduced renting price from 49000 Gold to 22000 Gold

CARD SYSTEM
For people just starting with Raiders, there is no use for Faction Points (FP) until a few hours into the game. We want new players discover cards and shuffling much earlier than they currently are:

- Decreased level requierements to draw Faction Cards from 5/11/17 to 5/8/11.
- Decreased level requierement to shuffle Faction Cards from 22 to 12.

CHARACTERS
When we moved from a pure Gold system into a Level plus Gold system, Wardogs kind of got the short end of the deal ;). The 3rd lowest level-requierement Wardog Raider was more demanding than the 4th lowest level-requierement Hades Raider, so we swapped that.

- Mikah and HIVE Level and Gold requeriments have been swapped.

PASSIVE STATS
We're closely monitoring the delicate balance between level progression feeling rewarding and being able to overcome level differences with other players with tactical and technical skill. For now, we are removing some passive power from the melee aspect of the progression.

- Brute force and Resistance passives have decreased their effects by 25%

INVITATIONS
The maximum number of invitations one can hold at a time is now 10, this allows us to increase invitation drop-rates and properly reward people who do use them.

- Increased invitation droprate (+50%)

Thanks to the great reception of the new campaign and the progression system, the design team has been able to gather a wealth of data in record time. This has helped us prepare a hot-patch, focused on improving match quality and the matchmaking system.

Many thanks to all of you for your enthusiasm!

---

Aequilibrium
The inclusion of the new Aequilibrium system, alongside the fact that all players started at level 1, has clearly unbalanced the Aequilibrium groups to Raiders side. The current fast-leveling-up environment prevents players from having the desired control over their respective Aequilibriums.

- Greatly increased the weight that Antagonist-affinity leveling up has on the Aequilibrium (+30%)
- Greatly decreased the weight that Raider-affinity leveling up has on the Aequilibrium (-20%)

These changes respond to the current environment of the Aequilibrium and are not definitive. We will continue to tune these numbers as player behavior stabilizes.

Match scoring
In their current state, scores aren't as diverse as we hoped for. Great games should be rewarded with higher scores, and right now it's hard to see a score of 8 even on a great performance.

- Increased match time, Raider's deaths and completion bonus contribution to the final score.
- Decreased difficulty contribution to the final score when not playing against an Antagonist.
- Decreased Antagonist skill bonus contribution to the final score when playing against an Antagonist.

Matchmaking
The matchmaking system has received a major update with the Hades Betrayal campaign. Matching players across all regions is more consistent and fair. We've also put in many optimizations that allow us to calculate more combinations in the same amount of time. The new leveling and crafting system has increased the pressure on the matchmaking system, and we are working hard on making sure the balance between waiting times, good latency and fair MMR matching is optimal.

- Increased MMR restrictions to avoid high-level vs low-level player matches.
- Increased AI difficulty when playing against an antagonist with lower MMR.
- Decreased AI difficulty when playing against an antagonist with higher MMR.

Invitations system
We detected a large number of players who were gathering invitations without using them. Due to the nil value the player obtains by doing this, we decided to set a max number of invitations per player. When a player reaches that number, he will stop receiving invitations until he uses at least one. Of course, veteran players invitations won't be reduced to that number, but those players will have to start using them if they wish to receive more invitations.

- Established a maximum amount of invitations the player can have. (10)

Major bug fixes

- Fixed a bug that was causing Ayana to crash some games.
- Hans' Ansgar "Warm" MM1 damage area didn't correspond to its visual FX.

Hades Betrayal, the third premium campaign for Raiders of the Broken Planet, is available now. Just like the previous campaigns, Alien Myths and Wardog Fury, Hades Betrayal is available to purchase as a stand-alone campaign for just €/$/£9.99.

You can check the Hades Betrayal First Look video here: https://youtu.be/AptRMsagDbo
Hades Betrayal includes four brand new epic story missions, playable in single-player, 4 player co-op or the intense 4 v 1 Antagonist mode, and a new exclusive character, the privateer Ayana. In this story arc, the Raiders will face the might of the Hades Division, the most powerful military organization in the galaxy led by General Krausher.

Harec and his Raiders must struggle to convince Ayana to betray the Hades Division and join the Raiders if they want to have a chance to prevent General Krausher from deploying a doomsday weapon that will tip the balance of power on the Broken Planet in his favor.

But those are not the only changes coming to Raiders of the Broken Planet. Hades Betrayal’s launch comes accompanied by a major overhaul to the Raiders of the Broken Planet’s progression and reward system, along with a visual redesign and inclusion of many new game features. Players will now be able to rank up to unlock new rewards, and with the new Forge system they can customize weapons obtained during the missions.

“The team has spent hundreds of hours reviewing gameplay data and listening to the fans’ advice, and all the changes we have implemented into the game have been directly influenced by that feedback,” commented Enric Álvarez, Game Director. “Introducing all those changes to the game while working on arguably our most ambitious campaign to date has been a monumental task, but the team has exceeded themselves. Raiders of the Broken Planet is now a very different proposition from the game we launched last year and a much better game as a result.”

On behalf the MercurySteam team, thanks to the great Raiders of the Broken Planet community for helping us making a better game!

With the coming of the Hades Betrayal campaign on April 4, Raiders of the Broken Planet is going through massive changes with a big impact on second-to-second gameplay. But we also keep working on balancing and adjusting the characters and missions that came before.

Most prominently, Hans has been a top antagonist pick for too long, we’re making very aggressive changes to make sure clever management of the Jetpack differentiates good players from better ones. This should create clearer vulnerabilities that well-organized Raiders have a better chance to exploit.

Missions:

Short-Fused

“The Raiders could cause the pilot to go for more Aleph during the first phase to have a full pool of lives in the second. That’s a fine but slow strategy, however, it was not dangerous enough. The tradeoff should be real now.”

- Increased duration of “Survival” situations on first phase.

- Increased bonus enemy spawn on Survival situations on first phase.

- Less enemies spawn ambushing the far-left side tank.

A Fistful of Sand

“We detected a spike of defeats during the Protector’s walk to the lift, on first phase. Besides of that, the average time needed to complete the level was a bit long”

- Decreased the number of enemies spawned when you find the Protector (-2).

- Decreased duration of Protector’s spell casting (-20%).

The Enemy Within

“We know the Uras is cool and we love him, but his phase had too much weight on mission difficulty when not playing against an antagonist.”

- Increased enemy spawn rate during the first phase when not playing against an Antagonist (+10%).

- Decreased enemy spawn rate during the second phase when not playing against an Antagonist (-10%).

No Reservations

“This level was too hard for low-mid skilled players and too easy for high skilled players.”

- Reduced waiting time at the bridges (-15 secs).

- Increased duration of the final phase (+10%).

- Decreased the speed of losing energy at low difficulties. (-10%).

A Weapon from the Past

“The average time needed to complete this level was a bit short.”

- Decreased Lyras' Sphere bar’s speed (+15%).

- Fixed a bug where the Drone gained too much speed.

The Beast’s Lair

“Marmalade should be at least as cool as the Uras!”

- Decreased enemy spawn rate during the second phase when not playing against an Antagonist (-10%).

- Decreased waiting time on the bridge (-20%)

- Increased Marmalade’s life when not playing against an antagonist (+7%)

- Increased Marmalade’s life when playing against an antagonist (+15%)

Characters:

Fifth council

“Shooter damage resistance is too big of a factor at high difficulties. Too much power on a faction-wide non-interactive stat shuts down too many opportunities for balancing overall.”

- Slightly decreased resistance to shooter damage (-5%)

Harec

“Harec’s damage has never been a tuning knob that we’ve been able to use much. One-shots don’t leave much room for damage improvements. They finally make sense now with the upcoming progression changes.”

- Increased Ferox Impetus' damage (+15%)

- Slightly Increased Vindicta Anima’s damage (+5%)

- Slightly Increased Ignis Fugit’s damage (+5%)

- Reduced Stalk cooldown (-10%)

Konstantin

“Tsiklon was too powerful at launch.”

- Decreased O.Tsiklon UV9's damage (-5%)

Alicia

“VINC Eager has been underperforming for far too long. It’s a pretty skill-intensive weapon for Alicia’s standards and definitely deserves the attention from those enjoy who wall-jumping aggressively.”

- Increased VINC "Eager" 23-1's damage (+10%)

Lycus

“Pepper Pot was too powerful at launch as well.”

- Increased Spinning Coin's damage (+5%)

- Decreased Pepper Pot's damage (-10%)

Hans

“As mentioned above, we believe the Jetpack is the best place to nerf Hans at this point. Skilled Hans players can, with good energy management, offset this drawback.”

- Ansgar "Warm" MM1 now takes an extra time before starting to deal damage (+0.2 secs)

- Heavily increased Jetpack reload time (+8 secs)

- Jetpack fuel lasts slightly longer (+7%)

Dr. Kuzmann

“Kuzmann’s Lichtbogen was performing outstandingly at high skill levels.”

- Decreased Lichtbogen ZXX’s indirect damage (-15%)

Mikah

“VK9-9 was not powerful enough for the precision it demanded.”

- Increased VK9-9’s damage (+10%)

Loaht

“Timing and positioning are the key to a good Loaht beast form rampage. However, we want to see it happen more often, giving players more chances to show their decision-making skills.”

- Rage bar now increases faster with received damage (+15%)

- Increased Popcorns' damage (+10%)

Iune

“Iune is very dependent on the behavior of the rest of the team. There’s still a lot of way to go as far as Iune balancing goes, but for now, we’ll make her slightly more independent. Iune players need more repercussion on their own performance before we can properly asses her.”

- Increased her converted grunt’s resistance to shooter damage (+10%)

Doldren

“Doldren’s performance in PvP is quite one-sided. Either he’s killing enemies with ease of being countered and hunted down with no means to escape. Skilled players have adapted quickly to it, but some mid-tier players still lack knowledge of Doldren’s strengths and weaknesses. We’ve worked on audio feedback to make that process easier. Also, Doldren was lacking power in PvE and the damage boost should help in that direction.”

- New and reworked audio feedback on Doldren’s crawler ability.

- Increased JK-5’s damage (+10%)

- Increased Bloody Mary’s damage (+5%)

Ayana Kwena joins the Raiders' ranks.
Hades Betrayal is almost here. Launching on April 4, the latest Raiders of the Broken Planet campaign includes Ayana Kwena as its exclusive character. As it was the case with Shae and Loaht in previous campaigns, you will recruit Ayana for your Raiders on Hades Betrayal’s first mission.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWDbHyNYDxQ
Ayana is a renowned weapon for hire across the galaxy, and was actually the first name in Harec’s list when he started forming his Raiders, but he could hardly improve the lucrative Hades Division offering. Now, Harec is planning to bring down the mercenary army, and the time has come to force Ayana’s hand and make her join the Raiders… either if she likes it or not.

“The most feared pirate in the seven galaxies", "Captain of captains", "The Flame"... Ayana is known by many names, all hard earned throughout her career. Originally from a poor land without much of a future, Ayana left at a young age in search of a better life, but she never forgot her roots. Today she is the captain of the Requiem, a space ship both respected and feared on a thousand planets.

Ayana specializes in ship-to-ship boarding actions, and she has upgraded her combat uniform to include a boarding line rig that she uses to trap her enemies, leaving them defenceless in the process.

Ayana’s arsenal is composed by state of the art mortar rifles, using cutting edge pulse technology to fire self-propelled proximity mines. Ayana developed a fearsome reputation in boarding engagements where she used her mortar rifle to clear the deck of enemy elements before storming the bridge and taking the enemy ship.
