Maserati Project24

This is the Maserati Project24, a spectacular track-only hypercar from the same brand that gave us the MC20.

Speaking of which, the Project24 is loosely based on Maserati’s hyped sportscar, but there’s a lot more to it than just that.

Maserati first announced the upcoming track-only hypercar a few months ago, but then took its sweet time to reveal it.

The first thing we have to say is it looks great.

The car Maserati is showing now is finished in a fascinating shade of dark blue, combined with plenty of exposed carbon parts and black racing wheels.

However, every single example produced will be a totally unique specification.

At the front, you’ll find a large grille, large fenders and slim headlamps.

Meanwhile, at the rear, you’ll find two sizeable centrally-mounted tailpipes and an equally large diffuser.

And of course there’s the massive rear wing, which also incorporates an F1-style fin.

CHECK THIS OUT!

When you open the gull-wing doors, you’ll find a roll cage, a carbon fiber steering wheel with an integrated display and a carbon fiber bucket seat with a six-point harness.

Also, the passenger seat is actually optional.

The engine is a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, sending 730hp to the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential gearbox and limited-slip differential.

This powertrain is derived from the same proprietary V6 that Maserati developed for the MC20.

They loved it so much they gave it a name: Nettuno.

Maserati hasn’t revealed any official performance figures yet but we do know that the car only weighs 1250kg (2756lbs), so we can safely expect a mind-blowing 0-100km/h (0-60mph) time.

The company said it will only produce 62 units but it hasn’t said anything about pricing.

Mind you, the MC20 on which is based as a retail price of $215,995 and this is going to cost (a lot) more than that.
