Speedo Jr Nationals Day 2: Alex Walsh, Michael Andrew Scratch 1 Event

JR NATIONALS EAST SCRATCHES

After earning the #3 seed this morning in the 100 breast, Nashville Aquatic Club’s Alex Walsh will scratch that event to presumably focus on the 100 backstroke. She’s fresh off of a big 13-14 NAG in the 200 IM (read more about that here), and her 53.21 in the 100 back this morning in prelims is dangerously close to Kathleen Baker‘s 13-14 NAG of 52.87. Y-Spartaquatics’ Savanna Faulconer, the #2 seed in the 400 IM, also scratched the 100 breast.

In the 100 fly, Walsh’s teammate Tatum Wade scratched out of top position in the B final, while NOVA of Virginia’s Ted Schubert and Aaron Schultz scratched out of the C final on the boy’s side. Additionally, Carpet Capital Aquatic Club’s Ethan Young has scratched from the 100 fly B final.

100 backstroke top seed Kaitlin Harty has withdrawn from the 200 free, as has 100 back #5 seed Ali Galyer of Y-Spartaquatics. Meanwhile, 200 free top seed Erika Brown of SwimMAC has scratched the 100 back from her schedule. Finally, Enfinity Aquatics’ Josh Slater has scratched from the boy’s 200 free.

JR NATIONALS WEST SCRATCHES

Michael Andrew has withdrawn from the 100 back, focusing on the 100 back and 100 fly for tonight’s session. NAGs will be on high alert once more.

Andrew’s scratch is the biggest of the night on the West’s side of things. Eve Pfeiffer has scratched out of the 400 IM, while Chris Nicholson of RallySport has scratched from the 100 fly. In the 200 free, Isabelle HenigRuby Martin, and Jacob Huerta have scratched.
