Tutorial: How to paint Torgillius the Chamberlain from Warhammer Quest Cursed City

Undercoat the model black.

Paint the outside of the robes, the trousers, wrist guards and the hat with Incubi Darkness.

Repaint just the outside of the robes with Caliban Green leaving some of the previous layer showing through in the folds and recesses. 

Highlight the trousers, wrist guard, eye patch and hat with thin lines of watered down Thunderhawk Blue. Apply the lines a couple of times to build up intensity and help transition the blend.

Paint the inside of the robes and sleeves with Loren Forest. 

Repaint the inside of the robes with Strakken Green Leaving some Loren Forest to represent shadows.

Paint the Cane’s head, candle holder and dagger on the back with a couple of coats of Leadbelcher. Add a touch of Lahmian Medium to help smooth out the metallic paint.

Create a 50:50 mix of Basilcanum Grey and Lahmian Medium and wash the entire miniature. Once dry, repeat this layer in the deepest recesses to make them darker.

Highlight the outside of the robes with lines of Sons of Horus Green.

Highlight the inside of the robes and sleeves with thin lines of Nurgling Green. 

Highlight the trousers, wrist guards and hat with thin lines of Hoeth Blue. 

Paint the skin, parchment (on the back, around the forehead (not pictured),scroll on the crow’s foot and all the candles with Rakarth Flesh. This might take a couple of coats to ensure it’s a solid coat.

Wash the parchmentand candles with Seraphim Sepia.

Create a glaze of 1 part Knight-Quester Flesh and 3 parts Contrast Medium and wash the skin. 

Highlight the skin with Grey Seer. Paint the beard with a couple of coats of Grey Seer. 

Wash the Beard with a heavy coat of Apothecary White Contrast.

Add thin edge highlights to the skin, beard, parchment and candles with Pallid Wych Flesh.

Paint the tip of the Candle with Yriel Yellow.

Paint metal parts with Liberator Gold. This will take a couple of coats.

Wash the gold areas with Aggaros Dunes. 

Apply thin edge highlights to the metals and gold with Runefang Steel. Paint the nail heads on the yoke with Runefang Steel.

Paint the leather belt, inner hood, shoulder straps, scabbard and boots with Doombull Brown. 

Paint the wooden yoke and wooden board on his back with Steal Legion Drab.

Wash the leather belt, straps, boots with Wyldwood Contrast. Paint wood grain thin lines on the staff and yoke.

Edge highlight the wood with thin lines of Baneblade Brown. 

Highlight the leather belt, straps and boots with thin lines of Skrag Brown. 

Wash around the eyes with a light coat of Carroburg Crimson. Paint a couple of coats of Carroburg Crimson on the tip of the candle.

Carefully paint the teeth and dot the eye with Pallid Wych Flesh.
