The Afro Pop singer, now known as Kizz Daniel, has established himself as one of Nigeria's top musicians.
He's barely been in the professional music business for five years, yet he's already had three number-one hits.
Kiss Daniel has always enjoyed singing, but he just became a full-time musician after finishing his university studies.
His late father urged him to complete his schooling while supporting his desire of becoming a singer.
"He's a kind man who has always tried to help you... 'Just follow your dreams,' he would advise. "I won't compel you to do anything, but just take school seriously," Kiss Daniel said in an interview with Factory78 TV.
When it came time for Kiss Daniel to record his debut single, his father, a painter, and professor, offered him $100,000.
"My musical journey has not been smooth; it has always been bumpy. It began when I was very young, around the ages of 7 to 8 or 9. I began scribbling lyrics, and my father saw that I did it frequently... I could sing when I was 13 or 14 years old "He spoke about how his skill grew.
Kiss Daniel began his professional music career while a student at the Federal University of Agriculture. At the time, he was studying Water Resources Management and Agrometeorology. After finishing his degree in 2013, the Afro Pop singer focused entirely on his music career. Woju, Kiss Daniel's 2014 single, became an instant hit. The song quickly became one of Nigeria's most popular songs of the year, earning nominations for "Hottest Single Of The Year" and the Nigeria Entertainment Awards.
