Hezekiah Walker, Donnie McClurkin, and Israel Houghton deliver songs of praise and encouragement to the families of the Buffalo, NY victims

Gospel artists Bishop Hezekiah Walker, Charles Jenkins, Israel Houghton, Donnie McClurkin, Bebe Winans, and Lena Byrd gathered to show love and support to the families of the Buffalo, NY victims. Walker was asked by officials to provide healing to the community, and he delivered a concert that did just that.

On May 14th,10 people were killed in a mass shooting at Tops Friendly Market store located in Buffalo, New York. The shooting is being described by officials as a “hate crime and racially motivated violent extremism.” An 18-year-old white male shooter, Payton Gendron, killed 10 black individuals and injured 2 others. The victims included, Aaron Salter, Ruth Whitfield, Katherine Massey, Roberta Drury, Pearly Young, Heyward Patterson, Celestine Chaney, Geraldine Talley, Andre Mackneil, Margus Morrison.

The concert was held at Greater Refuge Temple of Christ, the night was full of praise as the packed church lifted up God’s name and offered condolences and prayers to the impacted families.

The energy in the room was infectious as people were moved spiritually and physically. Donations were received online and a $5,000 check was given to support Buffalo. The night ended in prayer while also calling for action from the government.

Walker stated “Gospel music helps people to remember that God is with us, even in the midst of tragedy, and there is no pain that is beyond His grasp.” A night that began in a somber way ended in rejoice. If you missed the event, you can witness the powerful night below.
