One painting on display was of a very familiar scene - the old sunken boat you see off Highway 55 in Stonewall.
Jeff Troeltzsch shows off his painting "Stonewall Boat." In Jeff's defense, a TownDock.net reporter made him stand up and assume this game show pose.

The painting is more than just a sunken boat - it has a love story. Jeff says the boat's owner died in the early 90's, and his widow has had it pumped out and refloated several times out of respect for her late husband. Years ago, we would see the boat afloat for a few weeks, then slowly sink back to the muddy bottom. More recently, she has just been a sunk boat... yet a boat with a certain calm beauty.

Betty Brown has done many pencil drawings of Oriental landmarks. You will find her drawings for sale in many area shops, and her calendar has proven popular in the last couple years. At Art On The Neuse Betty introduced porcelain pieces with images of her drawings. They included cups, plates - and one item that we would not have anticipated - a toothpaste dispenser.
Just turn the crank and out comes Crest (a drawing of Shrimp boats is on the base). Toothpaste not included.

Betty shows off the same drawing in a more traditional display.

Minnesott Beach artist Deb Iannitto with her folk art - created with enameling.

Marlene Miller's paintings capture area wildlife - sometimes with a whimsical touch if you look closely.... |
This Marlene Miller painting is titled "Three Red Drum". |
