One of the greatest singers Jamaica has ever producerd, Keith ‘Slim’ Smith was a major figure on the island’s music scene throughout much of the 1960s and early seventies, initially making his mark in the ska era, fronting leading vocal group, the Techniques.

Popular solo recordings ensued, but by 1967 he had become primarily imvolved with another hugely influential singing group, the Uniques, provising lead on most of their rock steady hits over the next 2 years.

Following the brea-up for the trio, Smith resumed his successful solo career, but on 10th October 1972, while still at the height of his popularity, his lifeless body was discovered, the singer having bled to death after severing an artery on broken glass. with the precise circumstances that led to his sad and premature death still a mystery.
