My lvl 70 DK doesn’t show the mining pick icon on their professions screen either.

However, my lower level alts with lower expansion ranks of Mining do show it.

So perhaps it is more about the expansion level of Mining that you have. Which, based on my alts it changes once you learn Legion Mining.

hmm i have classic 300 , outlands 10 , Cata 1, Legion 1, and Kul 1. i Just picked up Kul to see maybe it will give it to me but no.

I have a lvl 70 paladin who is apparently missing it also…

i have a 61 Dk who just got dragon isles that has it.

{it wont let me Insert Hyperlinks}… lame

Yeah … once you learn Legion Mining (and above) you may no longer see the Mining Pick. But you shouldn’t even need that – it isn’t used. You should be able to just click on an ore node and mine it (if you meet any level or skill requirements that is).

My DK (first image I linked) has every expansion’s Mining and goes around mining all the ore in the game without issue.

For that screenshot you just linked … what other expansions does that alt have in Mining?

ok so my dk has classic and cat and dragon

looks like /cast Mining does not work on dragon node, says invalid same with just clicking the mining spell, how odd

says its a spell [Mining]
5 yd range
3.2 sec cast

Gather ore and other minerals from deposits for use in Engineering, Blacksmithing, and Jewelcrafting.

and my macro was sweet lol.

/run R=R or CreateFrame(“Frame”)R:RegisterEvent(“LOOT_OPENED”)R:SetScript(“OnEvent”,function(R,E,…)for N=1,GetNumLootItems()do LootSlot(N)end R:UnregisterEvent(E)end)
/cast Mining
/cast Ashes of Al’ar

So are you just not able to walk up to the nodes in Dragon Isles and click on them to mine?

Do you have any mining equipment or accessories inserted into your Journal that could be causing an issue?

O i can right click and works like normal but using the spell does not work in dragon isles, it does work everywhere else - assuming you have it…

Will have to admit, I have never clicked on that mining pick icon to mine. I have always just clicked the ore node OR more recently, utilized my Interact Key keybind.

But if you feel that something is not working correctly, please put in a Bug Report.

just went on my DH and it has the spell who had legion mining. maybe its a character creation date ← does not have it and some date → they do,. idk il do the bug thing.

I’m guessing that there are a lot of people who have this issue but don’t realize or care lol

It annoys me because it’s not consistent when it should be the same

I can understand that sentiment. After looking over a few more alts (slowly making my way through them, lol) - I do have some that have the mining pick show up for expansions past WoD and some who do not. It is odd.

ya :stuck_out_tongue: thanks for the help confirming the issue. just found a reddit post from 9 months ago. The same issue, but no conclusion

Did they bother to post a bug report that would be my question.

They did, they made an edit in their OP linking to such.

I meant the reddit post.

You know, I never noticed I didn’t have that icon anymore and so many of my characters are miners, but I rarely use the /cast command.

I don’t know if the removal of that ability is considered a bug, but the thread you created in the Bug Report forum will allow our QA team to check it out.

My newly created Evokers have the pixaxe mining icon (and also the herb gathering icon). None of my other characters (which were all created prior to Legion) have it. Weird.

Further research shows that this is only affecting characters that had professions PRIOR to Dragonflight. I have too much invested in my professions to try unlearning and relearning the profession to see if it would fix it. My guess is, it would, but yeah I’m not doing that.

My educated guess based on my (admittedly limited) knowledge of how the game works on the server end, is that something went wrong when current characters were transferred over to the updated databases when Dragonflight launched.
